The Future of Liberty

About this ebook
The liberty movement in America made great gains in the years from 2008-2012. However, there were also tremendous setbacks. Many people had put their faith in the political process, and many were crushed when that process failed them. But there is still hope for liberty and freedom in America today. There are many ways that liberty can still be advanced by using the political process and by ignoring politics entirely. This essay attempts to outline ways that you can personally have an effect on liberty in America today.

About the Author
Preface
This essay was written for advocates of liberty. Now, I'm not talking about those who say they want liberty, but don't. If you are someone who honestly believes you are free in America in 2012, you're not really paying attention.
For example – can you name any single thing that you can do in America without asking for government permission or breaking the law? You can't go to the bathroom – if you don't go in a government-approved receptacle, you're committing a crime (it's actually likely you're committing more than one crime: environmental violations, hazardous waste disposal violations, indecent exposure, etc.). You cannot own land, unless you pay the government property tax each year. You cannot legally engage in any voluntary transaction with another person without reporting that transaction to the government and giving the government a portion of the value of the transaction. In 2012, in fact, if you think something, that may even be a crime (a so-called hate
crime).
