Introduction
Many people do not know how to read the Bible. Where do you start? How do you know what the Bible asks of you? How to explain everything? Where those miracles real?
These are relevant questions but they can distract us from what the Bible is really about. In the Bible, God reveals himself to us and reveals who you are. He has given us the Bible in order to be able to speak with us. There is a reason why the Bible is also called the Word of God.
Unfortunately, many churches no longer teach us how to read the Bible. This is strange because understanding the Bible comes with practice. Daily practice. Reading the Bible is a bit like playing sports. In the beginning, you might not like it. But the more you do it the better you feel. You start to see results. Playing sports will make you physically fit. If you also want to have good spiritual condition, you really need the Bible.
It took me years to find out how the read the Bible in such a way that I was able to apply it in daily life. I have not written this book because I have all the answers. This book is the result of my own quest. My wish is that many people use the Bible to contact God. I will give you a simple method to read the Bible. Like any good coach would do I will try to help you find the way that suits you best. Our motto? Tools, not rules. For further motivation, I have quoted many fellow ‘sports men and women’ who share their experiences ánd struggles with the Bible.
I wish to say one more thing beforehand: the Bible is a practical book. It is not theory. The Bible is a book for reading but most of all for doing it.
Have fun ‘doing the Bible’. You will soon begin to see results.
