I am just a girl that was lucky enough to grow up in a family that enjoy to travel. So these books are about how we use to travel by plane and car. As I grew up the traveling did not stop. Living down south gave me more places to visit.

The people and events in this book are real. The ten years plus years of traveling back and forth to Florida from Warren, Michigan as a kid, teenager and adult with my parents and sister. I have pictures and stories to prove it. So this is part family memories and part guide. Some items that I have learn and pick up during the years of traveling. What happens behind close doors when it comes to traveling? The example I am going to be using through out this book is from Michigan to Walt Disney World in Florida. It takes average of 17 hours to drive. Figure out where the family is going to stay and visit. The kids are ages 6 to 16; parents are going to rent a vehicle. The family trips are full of laughs, memories and fun. Everyone should enjoy them.
Chapter one
Planning out
Everyone says planning is always a good thing to do. Well when driving with kids it is a must. It can take months or even a year to plan a good trip to Florida because there is so much to do down there. With my parents it only takes a few months because we have been so many times down there. Before driving we all use to fly so we know both flying and driving way. Well it is one month before the big trip to Florida. The kids are counting down and doing the happy dance to be going. The parent list keeps growing what to take and do when they are driving and in Florida. Planning where to stop along the way to eat and maybe visit. Who is going to drive, will there be an overnight stop? Which freeways are we going to travel? The plan is to take Interstate 75 to 640 to 40 to 26 to 95 and end up on 4 until we see the sign for the area where we are staying in the Disney area. There are other ways to drive to get down there, but this time around we are trying this way. It is good to try different ways because the family is able to see more of the country. When at Walt Disney World where we are staying, eating and maybe what kind of shows are there that we can plan and see.
On Walt Disney World web sites they have packages deals. Make sure to check there before the final reservation. August will be the month to go down there and visit. That is hurricane season, and the temperature is warmer then normal, just have to keep that in mind and eye on the weather so can keep up to date about the hurricane season. Once minds are made up make reservations at the hotel that fits your family the best and restaurants for Walt Disney World. Making reservation early is better when dealing with Disney World. Stop at the post office so you can pick a paper so u can fill it out so your mail will be stop the week you are gone. It is easier then dealing with neighbors and other family members. Is the family going to use there personal vehicle or rent one for the week?
If going to rent a vehicle make sure it has enough room for everyone, there items and little bit of extra room so when coming back with items there is room for it. With this family we would need a semi truck because they all like to shop and buy stuff that we really do not need, but they want it and have to have it. Now when it comes to pets do you travel or leave them home. If there is a dog in the house see if a family member takes them or if your veterinarian keeps pets. When figuring out what is best for the animal, then set up something with family member or veterinarian. Now with a cat everything can be done that day of leaving. Now leave other dishes of wet and hard food for them. Make sure the litter box has new litter because if not the cat will be upset. Also think about maybe leaving another litter box in case the cat gets upset with one because it is to fill up then can go use the other one.
If anyone in the family takes meds makes sure there is enough for the trip, if not go and get a refill. Now it is the week of the trip, the days are going fast and there is stress to make sure nothing is forgotten. All the planning comes into affect now. If there is a dog in the family take the animal to the place where it is going to be staying for the week. Make one last trip to the grocery store to pick up everything that is needed for the trip. Have that list ready. The list
