    When my friend Timothy Warren, whom I admire and have a lot of respect for, asked me to write the foreword to his new book, HOW TO GET HIRED IN 11 DAYS, I was honored. My first thought (after reading it) was that there cannot possibly be enough room on just one page to say all there is to be said about the insights of this phenomenal young business man and the need for his new book!

    As the Talent Manager for a software development company, I read stacks of resumés daily and interview dozens of candidates regularly.     Why should I read this book?

    I have heard so many stories of men and women from their early 20’s to late 60’s struggling to land a job in this economy, and yet I have personally been hired at 8 different companies in the last 5 years. I have personally never found it difficult to find or be hired at a job, so I started wondering, Why are so many people struggling with this? After doing some research and talking to many people I discovered that most people do not know the 11 vital things they must do to land a job in today’s market. If these 11 things are done properly, they will continue to become easier and easier until you are able to land jobs with ease. In this book my goal is to teach you how to land a job in only 11 days!

    I am going to share practical advice that comes from my own life experience and the experience of many other successful individuals that have followed these secrets, and have taught them to me.     Chapter 1 – Today’s Job Market

    Why is the job market so bad today? Let’s start by answering this glaring question. It’s quite simple. When the housing market crashed in 2008, there was a large financial bubble that was built around it. Thirteen trillion dollars of extra money had to be printed just to back the booming economy, which was soaring because of developers building new neighborhoods, new strip malls and new commercial real estate all with new, unquestioned mortgages. With this boom came the need for many new services and products that didn’t exist previously. Mortgage companies, banks and financial institutions were doing very well offering loans to almost any home buyer that would sign the documents. When those types of companies start doing well, it opens the door for many other businesses to grow because banks fund entrepreneurship and other business growth. Restaurants, healthcare, the investment industry and car sales all begin to boom. As we all know, it came to a screeching halt in 2008 when what actually happened, in real terms, was a giant balloon of fake money and combined with real spending popped. This caused many companies, who thought they had a great bottom line, to realize that they had virtually no profit coming in any more, and many either collapsed in debt or simply could not keep their doors open when the economy slowed to a crawl. Business owners (the ones who survived) pulled back in massively and did everything they could to stay afloat.
