Payment Of A Field Guard - Artie Margrave

    Praise for Artie Margrave’s works

…Artie Margrave is amazingly talented. He invokes more fear within his few pages than a more seasoned writer does in an entire book. Ready and Action grabs hold of you from the first page and leaves you wanting more by the end. His imagery is stellar, placing the words in your mind and letting you take from it what you will. I will definitely be reading more from Artie Margrave, and if you are a true fan of horror, you will do the same.

    Very cool. More please.

The Curse In The Chest, a novella

Royston Moses has made what he thinks is a magnificent find – a chest; glittering, promising, but completely out of place. A journeying exorcist, Matthias Williams, is supernaturally directed to stop this menace. Will he succeed? Or will the Legion be birthed?

Body Parts For Hire, a short story

Gabriel Rice relates the story of his death to another probable victim who has had a body part surgical exchange with the sole intent to warn them of the impending danger. It’s up to the victim to decide if he’s real and should be believed or not.

    The Burnt Refuge, a novelette

After the death and cremation of Joel Broker Senior, his grandson, Gerry Broker’s, mind is occupied by a voice he believes to be a representation of some intangible being. Seeing visions of death induced by the voice, Gerry is led to a silent town where his grandfather had worked as a policeman and where he’d retired as an invalid, and is further directed to a house; burnt, empty and isolated but seemingly contains a secret. What connections did the house have with the voice in his head and his grandpa? What did the voice want from him? What did he expect to see inside? These are the questions that fills Gerry’s mind as he enters the house. In the end, he discovers that certain questions are better left unanswered.

    Ready and…Action!!, a short story

It’s the zombie apocalypse and the living has been separated from the undead. But life still goes on as normal. Normal means there’re some who prefer to be embraced by the spotlight more than others. However, to what length can people go to make themselves known?

    ~A Note from the Author~

    HAPPY HALLOWE’EN!!

That should be it. Doesn’t appear to be much but what else would you have me add? That the book is about this, about that and on and on? No, definitely not. Because that’s the cool thing about Hallowe’en—the shocking, frightening expectations. What you don’t know might kill you.

So rather than spend a night out with the friends, crank up a costume party, make out with the vampire-chick, or dude, who you’ve never even before met, why not spend a night out with yourself, alone in that unlighted room. Because the true horror is not out there, it’s in there, inside you, with you, a part of you you can never exorcize, that inhuman tendency. Suppressing it only makes it grow, makes it worse. And when it bursts to the surface, the repercussions…

So take a night out with yourself and unleash all of your horrors upon the wet October atmosphere. That’s what Hallowe’en’s there for, that and more.

Well, I’ll tell you one thing though: Don’t turn if you don’t have
