About this ebook
How can I please the Lord & what does he expect from me?
Anymore these answers are not commonly provided by the modern church in America, Israel, or Europe. In the Arabic World, India, Southeast Asia, China, and even parts of South America, you can be severely persecuted [even killed] for your new-found faith.
Daily Christian life in most of the world today is dangerous. There are the obvious dangers under Sharia Law, but the pull toward sin and worldliness is equally dangerous in our modern civilization where the absolute truth of the Gospel is seen as intolerant or worse. The last job I had finally came out in the open and forced me to sign a statement agreeing with many thing which I know to be sin. I left that company as soon as I was able to do so—without injuring the students in my care.
There is only one person who is able to lead you through this life and protect you. He is Jesus of Nazareth, Yeshua our Messiah. He purchased your freedom by paying your penalty for sin when He died on the cross as a holy, sinless person. That gives Him the right to tell Satan—and those who serve his evilness—to leave you alone. That gives Him the authority to fill you with His Holy Spirit.
Jesus is your liege Lord and worthy of your love and service. No governmental worries, for He is the one, true loving King over all other pretenders, supreme in all of God’s creation. The government has no power over you—if you are following Jesus’ lead, walking in the Holy Spirit.
That’s real power!
Even under severe persecution, He will keep you safe until your work is over and it’s time for you to go home and rejoice. Jesus is more than sufficient. He is your all powerful king. The kingdoms of the world have no power over Him, at all. Follow His lead and you will be fruitful!
It’s a wonderful life!
David Bergsland
For me, my early life culminated with the great rebellion of the sixties. Ending up as a fine artist and heavy user of pot and acid, I needed help. I met Jesus in 1974, and my life began, for real. The Lord gave me an amazing Godly woman for my wife in 1976. I became a graphic designer, font designer, and desktop publisher. In 1991, I began teaching printing and digital publishing. That resulted in writing dozens of books and booklets about the practical processes, using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. In 2009, I began the transformation into an author of fiction. By the end of 2022, I had 17 novels in five series, as I have developed my craft. This book is #20, and is the third book of the sixth series. I’m using Christian contemporary speculative fiction with some Biblical romance to share stories about the reality of how Jesus touches our day-to-day lives, while being strongly focused upon Biblical truth. I put the stereotypical Bible quoters in the same category as robo-callers. I attempt to reveal Jesus within a realistic world sharing my experiences. The goal is to reveal Jesus as a loving Creator building people into what they are designed to be. I currently assume time is running short, and the final harvest is here.

Chapter: So, you just met Jesus!
Congratulations!
You may have said what is called the sinner’s prayer. The Lord Himself may have spoken to you. You may have pronounced some vows you took seriously at a baptism or confirmation. There are endless ways to meet Jesus. The problem is what to do next?
If you have been born from above, you have (or had) a real hunger to learn more about the things of the Lord. Sad to say, what’s available at your church may not be very satisfying. But the Holy Spirit is in you to teach you these things.
If you seek the kingdom of God first
If you are willing to do what it takes: to come to know your Lord well
If your goal is to please Jesus
If you ask Him
If you study diligently
The key is to understand that you were completely equipped for your walk in the Lord from the moment you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The power is there. All you have to do is give [Him] permission to be active in your life. The next step is up to you. Before you became alive in Jesus you were not free to access the power of God. Now you are. Go for it!
Giving the Holy Spirit control of your life
This is not as strange as it may sound. You’ll discover more and more as you grow into maturity as a believer, that no one can come to Jesus unless the Holy Spirit draws him or her. So you have already had some experience with the Holy Spirit. But you need to take it a step further.
You need to be possessed by the Spirit of God: Possession has a really bad ring to it, doesn’t it? However, that is simply due to the fact that we always preface the word, possession, with the word, demon. Demon possession is a bad thing—obviously. More than that it is exceedingly dangerous not only to the possessed person but to all the people around the one who is controlled by the demon.
However, the Holy Spirit is God himself and a gentleman at the very least. He is a spirit you should covet. He is a spirit you want to possess you, to fill you to overflowing. We call this being filled with the Holy Spirit. It is not only a good thing, but it is a blessing to all people we associate with—including all those we just cross paths with in our daily living at work or play.
Walking in the Spirit starts here: with you (and me) having given Him authority to do anything He wants with your (my) life. Walking in the Spirit means following His lead, making His gifts and power available to those around us by letting Him work through us—with the assumption that only He knows what is good for a believer living in the Kingdom of God.
You are in a war! You need to accept that fact—including the fact that the Holy Spirit will always win.
Chapter: Maintaining spiritual security in the midst of a war
Before we get started on this quest for maturity and the power to live victoriously, we need to talk about some basics of warfare. Rest assured, it would be extremely easy to prove to you (if you don’t already know) that the Christian walk is warfare. As a soldier on duty, you have some things you need to take care of for simple protection.
The manner of living this way includes what we have learned to do to maintain security on the Web. Of course, our enemy is not a hacker, but he can do anything a hacker can do and much more with no guilt or compunction. Satan wants to destroy you.
The real problem is realizing that we are in a war: that we volunteered to fight in this war, that the weapons of our warfare are spiritual, not physical, and that the enemy is totally ruthless, brutal, nasty, and hateful. Let’s take a little reminder from Ephesians:
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:11 & 12 ESV
What this means in day to day living is that we must take this walking in the
