Basics of Reading
by
Linda McNine, MEd.
The Basics of Reading is written as a guide for parents who are seeking answers to why their child is having problems learning to read. Most of us do not remember how we learned to read; so the task of helping our children becomes insurmountable when our child is falling behind
. This guide explains the complexities of the English language, provides suggestions to parents of what can be done and leaves the reader with increased knowledge and confidence, as their child transitions from learning to read to reading to learn.
Meet the Author
My name is Linda McNine. I received my Master of Education degree from the University of Nevada. Since that time I have over forty years teaching experience in both private and public schools. I retired from my Special Education position in 2011 and have since continued working with children in both reading and math as a tutor. I understand the reasons children may struggle with the difficulties they encounter, as they are learning to read and know that these struggles impact them through-out their school experiences and lives. I share, with you, the desire to stop their downward spiral, to give them understanding and success, as they are learning. I believe their skills will grow, with your continuous efforts , and many will come to enjoy written language.
Dedication
I dedicate this book to my
students, who taught me how to best teach them
; and to all my co-workers and administrators who work through-out their lives to give each child the gift of learning
.
