About this ebook

In all the vast, tree-covered world of Pendar there is only one village of Men, protected from the forest and its hostile denizens by the beneficent magic of the Black Sphere. But survival is a matter of mutual cooperation among the villagers, something one young man has yet to learn...

Young Pharin has big dreams of ruling Pendar and owning vast wealth and power. He considers the day-to-day labors of the villagers beneath him and does not comprehend the necessity of the work.

In the wild hope of fulfilling his goals he steals from the village the source of its power ... and its only defense.
