About this ebook
Marriage of Honor is a book that challenges husbands and wives to reach toward their spouse to discover the differences that exist in marriage. As we lean and learn we find the areas where we can improve our connection and develop a greater fitness for marriage. God has wired us differently, thus we all have needs wants and desires that are diverse. This book can help men and women to focus on and understand the uniqueness of their spouse. As we apply these principles to marriage we can begin to bridge the differences that we face and start to experience what it means to have a blessed, fruitful and honorable marriage.
Husbands and wives should understand these basic principles.
Husbands: Learn what it means to live with and to honor your wife. Your marriage should have a strength and beauty that signifies that your relationship is growing and being built upon a foundation of solid biblical principles.
Wives: Understand that placing your husbands in a position that encourages him to lead and make decisions in life and marriage helps him to become a better husband, father and leader.
Marriage takes work, but marriage works because the Lord has established it to join together two incomplete persons and make them one. For the husband He has provided a suitable helper that can complement and encourage him. For the wife He has provided someone that can cleave to her and offer her security, value, and esteem. Getting back to what works is more crucial in marriage today than it ever has been. Focusing on the biblical model for marriage offers timeless principles and effective solutions for the struggles that we face in marriage.
Marriage of Honor gets us back on track to consider God’s plan once and for all.

Prologue
Marriage is not a simple social institution that everyone eventually enters into because he or she falls in love and lives happily after.
As long as we fail to see marriage as a complex relationship that requires special training and abilities to meet the needs of a member of the opposite sex, we will continue to see a discouraging and devastating divorce rate.
Willard F. Harley Jr. – His Needs Her Needs
My Beloved is mine, and I am His; He feeds among the
lilies. Song of Solomon 2:16
You can have a marriage that is firing on all cylinders, one that has reached a level of communication that you once only dreamed about. Yours can be a marriage that is growing in connection and new found intimacy. You can have a relationship that is reaching for the pinnacle of conjugal progress. The two shall become one can not only be a verse in scripture but also a personal experience in your relationship.
You can have a marriage that is filled by the grace of God and empowered by the strength of His word. You can be the husband or wife that is living out Gods design for marriage. You can become the couple that has learned to blend the male and female attributes and reach the level of closeness and confidence that you have always desired. You can become the couple that God can use to reach out and register others into the goodness and the honor that is Gods design for marriage.
Marriage is an institution that God has designed to bring two sinners together with the desire to become one. It is designed to be a picture of how our relationship with Him is to be honest open and intimate. Where society has failed is when they have chosen to leave God out of the equation and to pursue their own lustful cravings thinking that their plan will work better than any other. Considering the current divorce rate much work needs to be done to improve and inform people in relationships that God’s plan is relevant and it is filled with powerful instruction.

For more than twenty five years Rosemary and I, have been to or participated in many marriage weekends, seminars, workshops and couples studies. Each time learning something different and each time returning home with a new mindset. Even though the decision to become a better spouse is made, once the daily grind and the realities of life present themselves, positive and productive change becomes difficult to sustain.
The Squeeze
Life happens and the truth is that unless you are willing to scale back and prioritize the many activities of a busy life, things won’t really change any time soon. An active life can be a good thing but sooner or later one thing or another will get squeezed out and put on the back burner. The person that gets squeezed out the most is the one who may realize the lack of attention and importance.
Many husbands and wife’s choose different parts of their life to put on hold for a season. With good reason the purpose is to be able to focus more on critical areas that simply need their attention now. Some will choose work and the building of a career others will choose the children, their development and the activities that they are involved in. Still others may put emphasis on
