INTRODUCTION
Do you have trouble starting a project and once you have started, do you have trouble finishing it? Are you easily distracted? Do you find it hard to finish a task on time? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then don't worry because there are millions of people who share the same shortcomings as you do.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that you don't really need this book to overcome your shortcomings. You can easily overcome whatever is holding you back and achieve success in your every endeavor. The power to do this lies within you.
Self-Discipline by its very definition comes from within you, your-self. When we were young, we rely upon our teachers to motivate us to study. We depend on the coach to fuel our competitive spirit to win a game and asked for advice from a role model when in doubt. As we grow older, we look for meaning and motivation in books. We seek pearls of wisdom from seers. We look for answers everywhere when all along the answer is lying within us.
Like Santiago, the boy who went in search of a treasure in Paulo Coelho's allegorical tale, The Alchemist, we are all searching for the proverbial treasure at the end of the rainbow. Like another Santiago from another great story, Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea, we have to realize that on our path to success, the greatest struggle and obstacle is not with external elements but it is a battle we have to wage within ourselves, conquer our own doubts and diffident actions so that our self-esteem and self-confidence can grow stronger.
In this book, we examine the advantages that self-discipline brings to our life. How self-discipline is much more enduring and stronger than any form of external discipline imposed by the state, religion, society or any other form of external authority.
We know nothing about motivation. All we can do is write books about it,
said Peter Drucker, one of the greatest management and motivational writers of our time.
Finding the motivation to practice self-discipline is the key to demystifying the myth that self-discipline is something which requires great strength of character, will-power, perseverance and hard-work. It does. But it is not as difficult as it sounds. And this book shows you how it can be achieved by practicing a series of eminently doable actions.

Do it for yourself.
I hope it won't take as long as your last project,
said Steve.
It will be ready on Monday,
said Alan.
Are you sure?
Yes,
replied Alan.
I'll believe it when I see it on Monday,
said Steve.
You may have guessed that Steve
