About this ebook

As a successful Sales and Catering Manager for the posh Hayden Court Hotel located in New Orleans’ famed French Quarter, Darcey St. Claire is absolutely thrilled to be working on New Year’s Eve. The commission and bonus, she’ll receive from the two day Guidry Construction event will not only fund her spring trip to New York City, but buy a cute pair of shoes for the plane ride!
Her enthusiasm quickly turns to barely disguised irritation when Vincent Guidry arrives hours early for his scheduled check-in, demanding access to his suite. After he slashes the budget for the event, not even the crystal blue eyes of the former quarterback can quell the anger surging in her chest.
That is until he walks into the Chat Noir where she is trying to regroup after her irksome day.
In the private enclave known as the Cristal Room, Vincent willingly lights up Darcey’s New Year’s Eve and may have lost his heart in the process to the young woman who isn't looking for anything serious.

Was this the third or fourth person to comment on her accent in the last thirty minutes?

It was getting old. Darcey checked her watch certain the tipsy brunette teetering in front of her was oblivious to the show of impatience.

Everything you say sounds so pretty. Where are you from again?

Miami. She shrugged her shoulders and the woman’s face scrunched with laughter. I guess you’re enjoying your evening? Her current irritation dissipated in the series of snorting giggles, which followed, and she genuinely laughed for the first time all day.

Everything’s so nice. Isn’t Mr. Guidry a great boss?

Hmmm… Her irritation revived at the mention of his name and she checked her watch. Time’s up.

Hurry, you’ll need to find where you’re sitting. She ushered the woman toward the dining area where the other guests were searching for their assigned seats. I believe you are over here.

This is so cute. The woman twirled a place card that was suspended from one of the miniature Guidry Construction cranes in her hand. Here I am! She flopped into the open chair and nearly pulled the deep blue and silver linen and all six cranes from the table.

Good. Darcey patted the woman’s shoulder and straightened the linen as other guests began filling the empty seats. Good. She plastered a tight smile on her face and inwardly groaned.

As if on cue the wait staff of the Hayden Court Hotel dressed in crisp black slacks, white shirts and the signature Hayden deep reddish-purple vests moved through the guests with the grace of a dance company serving the first of three courses. Fortunately, she had handpicked this crew for their professionalism and knew they wouldn’t grimace even if
