    CHAPTER 1

    INTRODUCTION

In our society, debates exist over a wide variety of subjects. Originally devised as a forum to discuss opposing viewpoints, debate has become much more then that. It becomes a game, arguments, even an art form in some minds. And it crops up in almost every forum imaginable.

No topic seems to be safe from this great American pastime. If it exists in today’s society, then sooner or later people will develop differing opinions on the subject. And, where there are differing views, debate will inevitably follow.

And it is debate, in the most basic form that has led to this book. While I will be only giving a few opinions on the various subjects covered, they are all subjects that have been debated over the years; sometimes heatedly. They are among those topics that many find personal, striking on their own personal beliefs. And it is often the subjects most personal to us that we argue for the most.

The concept of this book arrived out of a desire to peacefully discuss some of these subjects; thus giving people a private means to consider of these subjects without fear of reprisal. It would allow the reader to debate the various subjects within their own minds, without argument or interruption. Allowing a full analysis of those views that are offered, as well as any the reader may derive on their own.

The views in this book are merely opinions. They merely give possible views of the subjects involved. And, in so doing, it is my hope that it will allow people to consider these possible views without feeling that their own beliefs are being threatened. Because it is by no means my intent.

It is not my intent to try to replace others beliefs with my own. I firmly believe that all people should have the right to make up their own minds about the things they encounter in life. And they should not feel that these beliefs are threatened by the mere consideration of other views. For I also feel that open discussion is a good thing. It can help us decide just what it is that we really believe.

By considering all the options in a peaceful open discussion, we can formalize in our own minds, just what it is we believe. At least, if we allow it to do so. Discussion and debate does not have to rock our world or shatter our belief systems. Listening to another’s beliefs will not undo our own beliefs.

I invite the readers to consider the views in this book, and take them for what they are; mere opinions on certain subject matters. Consider them, and either take them or reject them based on your own beliefs. And, with hope, it will give you a broader view of the world, and allow you to better understand the people who share this world with you.

    CHAPTER 2

    THE BOX

The theory of Schrödinger’s Cat is that a cat inside a closed box is both alive and dead at the same time; until we open the box and perceive its existence. This inevitably spawns a whole philosophical debate over whether or not it even exists if we do not perceive it. Even those who have never heard of this theory will
