About this ebook

This is the first book in the series entitled “The Spirit”. The subtitle of this book is “Knowing the Spirit”. In this book and the subsequent ones in the series I will apply John 6:63 to some aspects Jesus ‘victorious life on earth. The verse reveals the secret behind Jesus Miracle and the claims He made about His deity. In order for the Holy Ghost to play an active role in our lives we must know Him in the same way Jesus knew Him.
I have a strong feeling in my Spirit that the next few years will be characterised by conspicuous activities of the Holy Ghost. The flesh has dominated believers for a long time and the time for the Spirit to take control is now. Believers are largely ignorant of the relationship between Jesus and the Holy Ghost .Those who experience the baptism of the Holy Ghost limit His power to just speaking in other tongues and prophesying. Knowing the Holy Ghost and understanding His ways of operation help us to benefit from His power and glory.

    INTRODUCTION

There is no time when it is more difficult to LIVE than now. It is not everybody who is physically alive who is truly living. People live all kinds of livings. Many people, even in the Church are physically alive; yet, they are spiritually dead. Spiritually dead people are those who live in sin and who don’t respond to the activity of the Holy Ghost. The reason why many of us are spiritually dead is because we allow other people’s ways of living to affect how we live. If the examples we see around us are the right ways of living, we are motivated to live right. The wrong ways of living are however, so openly displayed that many unsuspecting individuals blindly imitate them. Some people live for riches, others for power and the majority for pleasure. The wrong kinds of life people live make them resort to fleshly schemes and human strength to achieve their aims. Most people live to please themselves, but the right way to live is to live to please God. The kind of life that pleases God is a life of godliness and spiritual power. This is what true life is all about.

It is God’s will for us to LIVE THE TRUE LIFE. True life comes from the Holy Ghost as He quickens us to live in holiness and power. We cannot live right in our own power and with our own wisdom. Human wisdom and power constitute the flesh and those who depend on them to live are in the flesh. We can only live right by depending on the Holy Ghost to empower and inspire us. Jesus said, It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

The Spirit refers to the wisdom and power of the Holy Ghost operating in believers to give them victory over the flesh.

Believers’ desire to be fruitful in life and glorify God and it is exciting to know that God has given us the power of the Holy Ghost to empower us to live victoriously. To have access to the wisdom and power of the Holy Ghost, we must keep in step with Him.

KEEPING IN STEP WITH THE SPIRIT

Keeping in step with the Spirit is total commitment to the Holy Ghost for guidance, power and provision leaving no room for the operation of the flesh. In these times of the rampant manifestations of the flesh, we must be completely devoted to the Spirit in order to keep in step with Him.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25

The New International Version of the Bible uses the phrase to keep in step with the Spirit.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 (NIV)

We have to exert ourselves in a positive manner to keep in step with the Spirit and this involves a number of spiritual efforts.

    1. Pay heed to the Spirit – discernment.

We pay heed to the Spirit by hearing the preaching and teaching of the Word of God that are inspired by the Holy Ghost. It is prudent to connect with Men and Women of God who hear from God so you can have access to the voice of the Spirit.
