About this ebook

We cannot follow the Spirit unless we know Him. If we don’t know the Spirit , we are not only likely to fail to follow Him but also blaspheme Him through ignorance and arrogance. Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is attributing the works of the Holy Ghost to the devil. The move of the Spirit in our time features several things that are contrary to tradition and human logic and this has the tendency to make many resist Him and fight against His works.

The aim of this book is to put us back on the path of following the Holy Ghost .We must not allow the flesh to control us and we should not be distracted by the common occurrence of demonic activities around us. The devil is so loud in his actions that preachers and Bible teachers spend a lot of their time talking about the devil to the neglect of the Holy Ghost. We must remain focused on the Holy Ghost in order to experience His power.

    INTRODUCTION

An important requirement of the believer in Christ, in the last days is to know the Holy Ghost, since knowing Him is the difference between the believer and the world. It is rather unfortunate that many believers have no knowledge or experience of the Spirit. Jesus reminded His disciples that they knew the Spirit. The coming of the Holy Ghost was the comfort He left them on His departure back to the Father. A believer who does not know the Holy Ghost is comfortless.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

    And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot

receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

    John 14:15-17

After knowing the Spirit the next thing is to follow Him. To follow the Spirit is to obey Him. The Bible says He guides us into all truth and that implies we follow Him into all truth.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

    John 16:13

Every believer must develop the art of following the Holy Ghost because He is the representative of the Godhead on earth in this dispensation. Jesus emphasised the importance of the Holy Ghost in the believer’s life so much that we have to follow the Spirit. In John 6:63, He reiterated the indispensability of the Spirit by saying it is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

    John 6:63

    FOLLOWING THE SPIRIT

The import of this statement is relevant in the body of Christ today when many people who began in the Spirit are ending in the flesh.

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

    Galatians 3:3

Believers are placing more emphasis on human wisdom and skills than the gifts and power of the Holy Ghost these days. They are busy educating their minds whilst their spiritual lives are abandoned. The desire to succeed in business and ministry makes many believers use fleshly manipulation to achieve their goals. Contention, competition, compromise, confrontation and contraction are rampant in the Body of Christ.

We contend against the truth in the inspired Word of God because it convicts our sinful hearts. The Body is in competition with itself as believers try to outdo one another in their quest to gain human recognition and acquire material things. The spirit of compromise has eroded the standard of godliness and righteousness in homes and churches. Believers constantly confront one another over petty doctrines
