    The title, Marked has special meaning for me for a number of reasons, but I’ll only go into one of those here. There was a time when a good many people were unable to read and therefore unable to even sign their own names. In place of a signature, they would leave their ‘mark’ on documents. Today, we still have a huge portion of our population who are illiterate or functionally illiterate. They may be able to sign their names but are unable to enjoy a good book or read a bedtime story to their children. This pains me greatly. I fell in love with books at a very young age, learned to read and never looked back. I can’t imagine how my life would be if I couldn’t read, if I couldn’t write the stories in
