Classic Salads - Marina Grey
Introduction
Salad most commonly consists of raw vegetables served with sauce or dressing and is usually served as a side dish or accompaniment to a full coarse meal. However, this traditional definition has changed through time. There are many salads with cooked vegetables, and meat. In fact some of the traditional salads also include cooked vegetables, for instance German potato salad or French salad (with its many variances).
Today a salad can be a meal on its own. It can provide all a full coarse meal normally would- meat, cooked vegetables, fresh vegetables, weather canned or fresh bought makes hardly any difference, and a high variety of sauces and dressings, which give a specific and can be accustomed to every palate, according to one’s wishes and preferences. All this makes a salad the healthiest meal one can easily prepare in his/hers own kitchen. That is another advantage of salads- they are fast and easy to make, even a child could manage making him/herself a meal.
In this book you will find 45 classic salad recipes, with a large variety of ingredients that are very easy and fast to make, and almost every one of them can be a meal on its own, so they are perfect for those who don’t have time to cook. If you do not like one ingredient, you can simply leave it out, or replace it with something else - salads are flexible!
