About this ebook

The Spirit quickens us unto salvation, healing and deliverance. "Living By The Spirit" introduces us to the secret of living by the empowerment of the Spirit. It shows us how Jesus exercised faith and lived by the Spirit for the provision of the spiritual and material things He needed. The Spirit quickened Jesus' faith and that of His disciples and five loaves of bread and two fishes were multiplied to feed thousands of people.

The Bible says the just shall live by faith. It is wrong to think we must always live by our own works and human effort. The exercising of our faith can supply our needs. The supernatural power of God supplied the needs of the Israelites and this power is available today. Millions of believers around the world insinuate that the days when God rained manna from heaven are over. When believers adopt this position they deny themselves the blessing of the miracle providing power of God.

    INTRODUCTION

The words of Jesus in John 6:63 are still reverberating in my spirit – it is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing. This is the third book in the series of books under the title The Spirit. The first two books were subtitled Knowing the Spirit and Following the Spirit. The theme of the entire series aims at shifting us from the dependence on the flesh to dependence on the Spirit. The first two books revealed the Holy Ghost as the quickening Spirit who gives us life and moves us to do the things we do. The books Knowing the Spirit and Following the Spirit explained how the Spirit works in the believer’s life and the spiritual benefits we derive from Him.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

    John 6:63

This book, the third in the series, is subtitled Living by the Spirit. The Spirit quickens us unto salvation, healing and deliverance. Living by the Spirit provides another aspect of living by the empowerment of the Spirit. It shows us how Jesus exercised faith and lived by the Spirit for the provision of the material things He needed. The Spirit quickened Jesus’ faith and that of His disciples and five loaves of bread and two fishes were multiplied to feed thousands of people.

The Bible says the just shall live by faith. It is wrong to think we must always live by works and our human effort. The exercising of our faith can supply our needs.

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

    Habakkuk 2:4

God rained manna from heaven upon the children of Israel in the wilderness. He brought them quails from the sea. Though human, they ate the corn of heaven – the food of angels. The supernatural power of God supplied the needs of the Israelites and this power is available to us today.

Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.

    Psalm 78:23-25

Millions of believers around the world insinuate that the days when God rained manna from heaven are over. When believers adopt this position they deny themselves the blessing of the miracle providing power of God.

Whereas it is good for us to work in order to earn a living and be blessed, God blesses us beyond what we deserve through our hard work. He pours out His blessings upon us from heaven like the raining of manna. God supplies our needs not according to our hard work but according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 4:19

This book reroutes our faith towards depending on the Spirit for the supply of our material needs. Believers over depend on the flesh, the result of which is excessive worry and anxiety. Jesus fed thousands of people with five loaves of bread and two fishes by depending on the miracle working power of God. He lived by the Spirit and not the flesh.

With five loaves of bread and two fishes available to Him, Jesus had no doubt He would be able to feed the thousands of people who were with Him in the wilderness. He reposed so much confidence in the supernatural power of God to multiply the bread that He
