About this ebook

Like everyone of us I am just a stranger seeking answers to the eternal questions and if this book has caught your attention we may have a lot in common. I think we all seek Love, Happiness and Harmony and this book is the result of my search. In my opinion fables and short stories have always been the best way to express the inexpressible so my feelings and thoughts found expression in the short essays.
I started writing small essays in which I described my insight experience, feelings and thoughts caused by every day events in year 2006. In December 2012 due to the great help and support by my husband I published a book called Notes on the Way Home. All the stories are listed according to the date when they were written and you may find the first ones too childish (as they really are) but I decided to include them in the book anyway as they are significant for me and show the general direction of my thoughts and focus in different periods of my life.
I believe that the Teacher is always inside each of us and if we are conscious enough to observe the way we perceive and react to the reality around us we can get to know and understand a lot about ourselves and the world around. All the answers you need are inside yourself and have always been there but you should have patience and courage to explore yourself.
In this book I share with you my insight experience and I am happy if these stories served you as an inspiration on Your Way to discover your Teacher and inner source of Happiness and Harmony.
So enjoy the process of discovering yourself as in fact the process is the goal.

I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and this city will always be very dear to me. My childhood and youth were spent there and lots of wonderful memories are connected with this city. English has always been my hobby which became my job right after entering the University. So my University years were full of activities that included not only studying and working as a guide in Kyiv and a private English teacher but also travelling, yoga, playing flute, drawing, literature, fine art and history of art. When I was 25 years old I decided to change my life radically and discover more about what I can achieve personally and professionally so in September 2008 I set off for Prague to study and work there. I learned the Czech fast and entered Charles University half a year after my arrival to Prague but found studying there too theoretical for me and started working as a guide in Prague which I have enjoyed immensely ever since. I have been living in Prague for more than four years now and this magic cozy city still fascinates me more and more. On 7th of July 2012 I got married with the Love of my Life and each day I find myself in love even stronger than before. Martin is my best friend and life partner, my incentive to discover new emotions and ideas as well as reliable support and help whenever I am in need. I started writing small essays in which I described my insight experience, feelings and thoughts caused by every day events in year 2006 and in December 2012 due to the great help and support by my husband I published a book called Notes on the Way Home illustrated with my drawings following each story. All the stories are listed according to the date when they were written and you may find the first ones too childish (as they really are) but I decided to include them in the book anyway as they are significant for me and show the general direction of my thoughts and focus in different periods of my life. For me these short stories are meant to inspire and encourage me to live a happy and fulfilled life each day and minute and I will me happy if you find them useful for your personal growth too. The Butterfly's Kiss

Autumn is when you can eat soft sweet walnuts, smile to the tender warm sun in the cool morning, listen to the birds singing songs to the gone hot summer, pick full pockets of acorns, notice more and more yellow leaves in the trees and, if you are lucky, feel the butterfly's kiss.

It will happen when you least expect it. She will fly near your cheek and touch you slightly and tenderly as if saying, Do not be sad - Summer will come again as quickly as I flied to you to kiss you goodbye for a year.

And you will smile and watch her flying somewhere and try to remember every color on its beautiful wings till next warm Autumn comes.

Tale about a Fox that could fly

Once upon a time in a beautiful forest between two seas lived a little Fox that was not as all the other foxes. He was a special one not only because his hair was very red but also because his biggest dream was to fly in the sky like the birds he enjoyed to watch flying.

He loved to look at the stars which seemed to be thousands of tiny smiling and dancing lanterns. He also loved to lie on the grass in the field and watch the white clouds passing by and turning into different mysterious animals on their way. He dreamed to look at these clouds from high above the Earth like birds do.

One day Red Fox decided to leave his native part of Great Forest and go to learn some skill. So he came to the center of the Forest and studied there. He studied long and hard and also got some good friends. Eventually he managed to make his biggest dream come true and one day all his friends saw him flying even higher than any bird ever could. It was his victory and great joy. So he flew almost every day and enjoyed it tremendously although it was really hard work. He made his own cozy home and was happy that now he had a warm shelter. But in a while more and more often he started to get sad being alone in his home. He felt he needed a friend to share his joys and sorrows with. But as he was very romantic fox and also not like other foxes indeed, he decided to look for his friend somewhere outside his native Forest.

And one day in one almost unknown to him Forest he met a Fox that turned to be special one for him. They got on well with each other at once and had a great time together. They missed each other when Fox had to return home and looked forward to seeing each other again.

One morning Fox felt that his friend should be with him for good so he came to her and took her to his house. She liked his Great Forest very much and very soon felt herself home there. They got two wonderful kids and lived happily together sharing everything life was bringing them. The end

    Tale about Mysterious Clock

Once upon a time in one faraway Kingdom there was an ancient tower. This tower was famous not only because it had stood in the central square for centuries but for the old Clock on its top. The Clock had round face and two hands but there were no numbers on it. Instead there were sections that were changing colors.

Many different stories were told to the stranger who asked about the mysterious Clock. But what some old people knew for sure was that this clock had been constructed long time ago when the kind and wise king Edward ruled over their Kingdom.

The craftsman whom King Edward ordered to make this wonderful clock was much respected for his skill and creativity. He built the Clock nobody had ever seen before and the only thing he asked for was not to ever enter the tower on which his creation was. He warned that the man who enters will never find the way out. People didn’t believe the old man’s strange talks but as everyone respected and loved the Craftsman they decided to strictly obey his wish.

Time passed and the Clock kept amusing everybody with bright colors on its face and an unusual way it showed ITS OWN time. Everyone who was lucky to see it remarked he had never seen anything of the kind. Its glory went far out of Kingdom’s borders and lots of travelers and wizards came to admire it.

But long time had passed since those happy times of glory and happiness and a lot was changed. Old people remembered the Clock to move its hands quite often but since the present mean and cruel man had gained the throne by killing their lawful king the Clock almost stopped or sometimes even went in the opposite direction. And either from old age or the sorrow of common people who worked hard all day long to get for a living, Clock’s colors were now almost always grey.

But sometimes when the Clock saw a kind smile or heard one’s sincere laugh it smiled back with a light color on its face and one of its hands moved in the right direction.

The new king hated the old Clock and would have destroyed it long ago if not for the risk of peoples' revolt. As all common people loved the Clock very much and many considered it to be the emblem of their Kingdom though being forgotten now. When the crowded, noisy and cheerful markets took place in the square opposite the Clock and people danced and sang together the Clock changed its grey colors for happier ones as if smiling back to them. And its hands began to move slightly to the right and children cried in excitement and adults smiled in happiness that the time didn’t stop for them yet.

One day the evil king decided to get to know the secret of this Clock himself as no one of his royal ministers and advisers seemed to know what mystery it hid and what the principle of moving hands and changing colors was. The strict Craftsman’s prohibition for going inside the tower where Clock’s mechanism had been for centuries was known to everybody of the Kingdom and only several disobeyed it.

Stories about people turning into animals and even stones were told among the citizens of the kingdom and king’s ministers begged him not to go inside it as everyone knew strange things happened in the tower. But he of course didn’t listen to any advice and was very angry with his naïve ministers so finally he decided to go there alone.

As soon as he got inside the tower he felt the strange feeling of loosing gravitation but his anger gave him decisiveness. As he was reaching the top of the tower where the Clock was he felt the growing sensation of loosing not only the usual sense of time and space but also suddenly his memory began to rub away. But he was yet conscious when he opened the ancienit, dusty door and saw something he least expected to find there. Was it his mind that went obscure or did he really see the colorful tunnel?

The moment he stepped there he began to fall into the tunnel and all his life passed in his mind in one moment. It turned out that he lived only several hours of sincere joy and happiness during all his long fifty four years on Earth. And suddenly he realized the secret of the mysterious Clock and REAL TIME but it was too late as this was his last conscious thought…

In the morning all royal ministers were looking for their king everywhere but all in vain. The yard-keeper who was sweeping the square near to the tower found a baby crying wrapped in king’s clothes. One lonely woman took it to her poor house and looked after the baby as if it was her own.

    Epilogue

There was a great ball celebrating the legal Prince’s coronation. All the craftsmen taken behind bars by the cruel king who had disappeared were let out of the prison and given back their workshops. The happy laughs were heard everywhere and the tears of happiness glittered in the eyes of many people. And the Clock shined with light colors and its hands started moving the right way again.

Fairy tale about a Shiny Candy

Once there lived a shiny and glowing candy. She loved to tell beautiful stories, saying exalted and inspiring phrases. And this splendor and pathos once attracted a naive little bird who dreamed to fly to the stars. The glitter of candy’s golden wrapper really looked like the morning star, and the excited swallow hurried toward it.

They had long inspiring talks, and swallow admired speeches of the candy, which seemed to her a real star fallen from the sky. But what was the frustration and disappointment of the trusting bird when looking under the shiny candy’s wrapper, she found only sand.

Since then the swallow preferred to communicate with caterpillars and beetles, whose kindness and sincerity seemed to shine brighter than any deceptive ordinary cheap foil.

    Tale about a Glass Cover

Once there grew a rose which had very delicate petals. She was always very sensitive to any breeze and rain drops quickly soaked into her soft leaves. She was very upset that from constant winds and rains its leaves gradually became less sensitive and tender. Apparently the owner of the garden noticed it too and the following morning he brought a glass cover which he covered the rose with. Now she was not afraid of even the strongest wind and rain and she was very happy for a while. But soon she started to get more and more upset each day, her delicate pink petals began to get dimmer and dimmer.

And then she realized that she needed the wind and rain just like the sun, because it is due to them she had grown up and got stronger.

    A picture to Remember

Could you take a picture of us please? the question distracted me from admiring the tulips asked by two ladies standing nearby. I remembered that I was in the botanical garden.

Yes, of course, replied I returning from my thoughts.

One more useless picture just to confirm visiting the botanical garden and being near the tulips. Yes, just being near the tulips, as people usually hardly take a look at them, and it is mainly evaluating glance to decide if the view is worth taking a picture of it or not…

Yes, I have already taken so many such "good
