About this ebook
With Ro apparently safe until nightfall, Taj leads the assault on the genetic laboratory responsible for all the super babies.
There she finds Karrteh. What he does to her, what they do to each other is so amazing, so enthralling and so distracting that both miss important clues which might have forestalled the coming disaster.
She goes from him to meet Dino, falls helplessly in love and does what comes naturally. When Dino is abducted, Taj wreaks her vengeance on the grinning Langdon, compliments the 5 Ophiotauran soldiers on their expertise, makes some barren women very happy and visits Loosha with Evan to share her doubts about Maggie and Edie.
Loosha passes on a message from Ro, effectively tying their hands and shares her fears for her mother who is weak, confused and feels abandoned.
After they leave Loosha. Evan and Taj almost start to get down to their favourite occupation, but this time Evan puts his foot in it again and manages to annoy, irritate and almost lose Taj. She decides to teach him a lesson and makes him her total love slave with a new manoeuvre she invents on the spot.
Ro returns home, but she is already asleep and being drained when they reach her, so they bring in reinforcements to help try to keep her alive through the night.
Ro freaks out on waking in a bed full of naked bodies, ’ports out to a secret hidey hole and gets so viciously attacked that she has to message Evan for some healing help. Yet she will not allow him to heal her completely.
Evan is devastated at the damage done his first lover.
And Taj’s mother finally dissolves her marriage.

I’m Aussie, way over 35, thankfully and very happily divorced, and have a wonderful daughter who very occasionally beta-reads for me. A few years ago we had 13 cats; we just lost another, so now only one of those remains. We have added 6 more over the years, including the sweet feral ragdoll which is my Facebook avatar. I generally prefer female cats, but have also had some magnificent males. I couldn’t live without cats, just wish their lives were longer. I’m having a lot of problems adjusting to social media which doesn’t leave me enough time for writing and editing, so I won’t be expanding my web presence any time soon. If you want to know about NEW RELEASES and SPECIALS you will need to FRIEND ME ON FACEBOOK. I have announced coupons to get a new release free here, but apparently nobody reads author biographies. Of course my books are what you are really interested in. Originally, I wrote a long continuous story, starting at Reacquaintance, told from Ro’s POV. Then when Ro disappeared for a year or so, I had to use Taj to fill in the gaps, and she proved so feisty and interesting, that I added in her back story, starting with Getting to Galen and continuing in The Deep End. After Thxx’s Story, the various POVs continue in the same stream. I had to break up my huge tomes into installments that could be published separately as I finished editing them. I’m afraid my writing was quite stuffy at first, with convoluted 12- to 15-line sentences, turgid half-page paragraphs, and a lot of pompous pontification and personal political opinion which the story didn’t need. I had to rip out a lot before I could publish. I think the books are greatly improved now. I was giving away my books for free for most of a year, hoping to develop a fan base quickly, but learned that people don’t value what is free. Though over 20K copies have been downloaded, very few seem to have been read, and even fewer have been reviewed. I was unlucky to attract an ill-wisher who thought it amusing to devalue every one of my few 5-star reviews. Perhaps that put off others from reviewing. Certainly, without good reviews, few readers cared to buy my books, so if you have enjoyed them, I really would appreciate a short review. With the next book, The Power of Art, I will be doubling all my prices, so they’ll never be cheaper than they are now. I believe that I am the only person writing Utopian books today, though mine are nothing like the political satires of yesteryear. My books are based on the power of love to bring out the best in everybody, to develop their souls and help them to evolve into higher beings. Ro started Galen, and she, Taj and their men lead their people to make Galen a true Utopia which reaches out to the stars. Cat lovers will adore Brinna, my sentient sabretooth, though we have intelligent dogs and dinosaurs too. Though you couldn’t call my series a space opera, I do have a space battle planned, probably the cutest ever written, but that is still a way off. I really will have to buckle down and get more books edited and published so I can write some more.

Chapter 10
Meeting Karrteh
Meanwhile, Maggie had arranged everything at the mountain laboratory near Typhon. Appropriately it was called Arima after the mythological nesting place of Typhon and Echidna, the father and mother of all monsters. So again all the TY-soldiers got into their pretty periwinkle blue uniforms and raided the place with Security regulars.
And Arima held a captive alien!!! Or at least they believed he was their captive. Evan immediately gave me the Language when he heard that and we went to see him.
My hormones really seem to be getting out of whack lately. Just the sight of him aroused me immediately. I could feel all my body hair standing on end.
Yet he was a rather puny taupe-skinned fellow with a huge bald head and enormous gold-flecked soft brown eyes. He was about my height, 5’1" (155cm), but even slimmer, except for his head of course
Apparently he wore some kind of disconcertingly matching, seamless, taupe body suit. You couldn’t tell where the suit started or his skin finished.
I rather doubt that he could really have been naked, as civilized people don’t go around like that. And there were no obvious uncovered bits on display.
Despite his unimposing physical appearance this little guy was no wallflower. He radiated strength of personality and an overwhelming masculinity. He was most definitely an adult male too. So strongly macho, he made all the Typhon guys, even Evan and the older TYs, appear as callow boys. It was quite remarkable.
And for some reason he made me tingle all over.
Maggie had already been talking to him, but he politely changed to English when we appeared.
I have been waiting a long time for Thxx or some of her people to come to me.
He spoke in a soft, rather scratchy voice.
I paraded over to him like a cat on heat, fluffing out all her fur. He smiled at me and something inside me seemed to thaw and relax. I felt like purring with contentment.
I do have a few cat genes, but this was ridiculous.
"Now that you have arrived, I have a keyword for you. This will obliterate all the webbing and tattoos and any conditioning Typhon has imposed since you were conceived. But it also could immediately remove the physical modifications.
That seemed an extravagant claim, but if true, offered the chance of our regaining all our past life memories.
I asked "Is there an equally easy answer for the five TY7s who have undergone the brain surgery. That has left them as little better than lobotomized automatons.
"Also, most of us have already rearranged parts and abilities to suit ourselves. We don’t want those to revert.
And what about the older guys who had the cybernetic eye enhancements and the metal alloy leg supports, will it hurt them? Can they keep the enhancements if they want to?
He looked at me with great tenderness.
I wanted to wrap myself around him and let him stroke me. But I wasn’t thinking like a cat anymore.
I promise they will all be alright. Two repeats of the keyword will reverse the brain surgery. Four are needed to remove the metal leg supports. Six will recreate the natural eyes. And all the repeats must be given at the one time. Cumulative repeats over time will have no further effect.
I asked the TYs and everybody who had squeezed into the room wanted to try the single version.
As soon as he spoke the word, which was also his name: Karrteh,
with a rolled r-sound, I was hit by the rest of my life memories in a sudden cascade which staggered me.
Karrteh who
