Power in the Blood
You have probably heard this phrase before, most likely because of the old hymn There Is Power In The Blood.
I remember singing this song as a young boy in church and not taking in the true meaning of the words. But upon further contemplation I realized just how much power there is in our own blood, let alone the infinite power in the blood of Christ.
The blood coursing through our veins keeps us alive and gives us our strength. Blood, driven by the heart, travels through a divinely complex system of arteries, veins, capillaries, and internal organs. Blood delivers life-giving nutrients to all parts of the body. It exchanges carbon dioxide for oxygen in the lungs. Without the flowing blood in our bodies, we pass away.
Likewise, without the powerful blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, our lives are dead. Dead to meaning, dead to spiritual growth, dead to the truest of love. Christ died for all of humanity and accepted the weight of our sin. His blood was shed to allow us to live. And as long as we accept Him as our true Savior, Christ freely gives us the power to live, the power to grow, and the power to help others to find that same power.
May the words in this book be a blessing and an encouragement, that in the moments you feel powerless, you will remember our Precious Savior and the power that He freely gives.
Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed;
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;
Refrain
And when I think that God his son not sparing,
Sent him to die - I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
Refrain
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home - what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Grace
Amazed is correct. Grace is something you experience. What so many people miss about grace is what it does to you when you receive it. Grace changes you. You are never the same after grace fills your heart and life. You can go back to acting like you did before grace touched you but you will never be the same. Grace touches your heart because your heart is open. Grace transforms your heart because the old ways of anger, hurt, revenge, loneliness, mistakes, and rebellion are washed away. What is left is a little boy or little girl ready to start school all over again. Instead of trying to understand it, let it wash over you. It is the greatest gift you will ever receive... if you let yourself receive it. Everyone knows about grace in their heart of hearts. What everyone does not like to do is open their heart up so much that all the old hurt and pain gets let out. The form of grace is Christ Jesus hanging on the Cross for you and me two thousand years ago. The substance of grace is Christ Jesus with His arm wrapped around us every moment. With grace there is a grief that comes because the old person in you dies and a new person is born. It is important that you never look back to retrieve the old person. When you look back the old pain beckons you to come back. When you look ahead in grace then the love that has poured over you beckons you to come forward and kneel at the foot of His Cross. May Christ's healing love keep you and sustain you forever.
At The Cross
In the church and in our faith, the surest way to deal with our problems, difficulties, and pain is to go to the Cross. Most people are not in church because they are afraid of the consequences of the meltdown when they stand before the Cross. The meltdown refers to God’s requirement that we stand before the Cross, that we see Jesus hanging there, and that we surrender all that we are to Him. When we are able to surrender all that we are to Him, our problems, difficulties, and pains begin to melt away, and anxiety begins to fade. All these dark difficulties begin to melt away because we have placed ourselves in Jesus nail-scarred hands. We must go to the Cross to deal with our problems, whatever they may be. We must go to the Cross in real time, in real ways, just as if we were standing there on the day He died. We must stand before the Cross because the Cross is totally transforming.
Going to the Cross is also devastating to our sinful self that wants what we want when we want it delivered by a Jesus who acts as a servant catering to our every want and need. Standing at the foot of the cross takes away our desire to be fed the candy verses of the faith and gives us the ability to chew and
