    Introduction

This book is a guide to enable a person to speak in public who has not done so before or who has done so infrequently. In investing in this guide you are on your way to not only enjoying public speaking, you will find the experience invigorating . The world belongs to the articulate. (I wish I could remember who writes quotations)

There are many ways to attempt public speaking. This is one of them and a method that I have used and honed over 30 years of speaking in public.

There is no padding or vague references, this is a plan to follow with whatever type of speaking that has to be carried out. The formula here is an exact formula that works and has worked time after time after time. Each type of speaking engagement will differ in its aims. The formula will be adapted for each type; however the formula remains central to whatever type of speech, course or address being delivered.

You are reading this guide because you are a novice public speaker. Use the formula and stick to it. As experience grows it will be possible to modify and vary the formula however that is some time away in the future. Do not modify the formula until you are able to stand
