    2. Answers.com definition of Good Samaritan; A compassionate person who unselfishly helps others. After the Samaritan passerby in the New Testament parable who was the only person to aid a man who had been beaten and robbed (Luke 10:30–37).

    3. A Danish emergency vehicle company is named after the biblical Samaritan, although it’s spelled Samariten with an e in the last syllable. Danish children tend to think that the Good Samaritan was a particularly nice emergency vehicle driver. Or that emergency vehicle drivers are all firm Christian believers. This of course depends on which they’ve heard of first: the NT parable or the emergency company. Usually it is the latter.

    Act 7

Charlie was looking into a sea of faces. Hundreds and hundreds of faces, smiling faces, sweet faces, shy faces, all framed by long black hair. They were all faces of girls. Teenage girls. Charlie squirmed under their curious glances and droplets of sweat emerged on his forehead. He felt totally stupid sitting in front of this many faces, but Rufus had insisted that he be there.

Charlie tried not to look too nervous. Rufus was sitting on his right and his relaxed attitude calmed Charlie down a bit. On Charlie’s left sat Aya-san. Her presence made him feel anxious. He fidgeted with his programme, dropping it on the floor. For a moment he wondered if he should bend down and pick it up or just let it lie there, but before he had finished his thoughts, Aya-san had picked it up and handed it to him.

Here you go, Sweecok-kun, she whispered and her pleasing lolita-voice made him blush. Then Takahashi-san, who had been seated on Rufus’ right, got up and approached the microphone. He started to talk to the many faces, but Charlie didn’t understand what he was saying as it was in Japanese. But he could guess. He was probably introducing Rufus.

Rufus Fox was a former manga-artist. In the past he had created a series called 'Cherry Love' which was reckoned to be the best BL-series ever, BL being short for boys’ love.

BOYS’ LOVE. To tell the truth it was homosexual erotica made for the pleasure of heterosexual women. Masturbation fantasies, Rufus sometimes called it. The mainstream genre was known in Japan as BL, but most people in the Western world called it yaoi; the acronym used to describe the contents of indie BL books as having "Yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi. No climax, no point, no meaning".

Although Rufus hadn’t worked for years, he was still a superstar in Japan. He had been invited as the main speaker at a BL fan convention and he had taken Charlie with him. That was why Charlie now found himself on the stage at a BL-convention in Tokyo in front of a sea of smiling faces.

They had arrived at the Narita International Airport the day before where they were met by three people, a tall, broad man in his thirties and two younger people, almost identical, in their twenties.

Yokoso Tokyo! the tall man had bowed as soon as he saw Rufus. Then he had continued in a strange English, Pleased to meet you, Fox-sensei, bow-bow, I hope you had a pleasant flight, more bows, I am Takahashi Kenji, the organiser of the fan con.

It sounded strange because the man had difficulty pronouncing the l’s, but Rufus didn’t seem to notice. He bowed to the man and said, Pleased to meet you, Takahashi-san, then he presented Charlie, Please, let me introduce you to my companion, Sweetecok Charles.

Takahashi-san bowed and Charlie remembered to do the same.

Pleased to meet you, Sweecok-kun, the tall man said and Charlie mumbled something that not even he himself understood.

Takahashi-san now introduced his two companions as Sato Aya and Sato Toshiro. Rufus looked puzzled for a moment, then he proceeded to call them Aya-san and Toshiro-san in order not to get confused by two Sato’s. They really looked very much alike, both with long black hair, a frail frame and fine-featured faces and had it not been for the fact that Aya-san wore a skirt, it would have been difficult to figure out who was the girl and who the boy. That they were siblings went without saying.

Aya-san bowed to Rufus and Charlie, while Takahashi-san explained that she was his assistant and Toshiro-san made bows just as deep when he was introduced as Rufus’ personal driver.

Fox-sensei, Sweecok-kun, it makes me great pleasure to meet you, they both mouthed, their bows almost making Charlie lose it. He would never figure out how deep to bow and how often.

Charlie’s train of thoughts was broken by a thunderous applause. Apparently Takahiro-san had finished his introduction. Rufus got up and approached the microphone, humming to himself. Charlie noticed that some of the girls in the audience screamed as if Rufus was a rock star. Rufus smiled at the sea of faces and Charlie couldn’t help but feel a sting of jealousy.

Rufus seemed to adore the attention of all the young girls and he was calm, almost graceful when he started to speak to them in a very slow, easy English in order for them to understand. Not all of them did, though, so Aya-san translated the finer points whenever Rufus came to a natural stop in his speech. It was all about 'Cherry Love' and its main protagonist Star.

Charlie listened to Rufus’ well-known high-pitched voice and felt some of the speaker’s calm invade him. Rufus had a way of making people relax and feel safe. Especially Charlie. He couldn’t help but smile.

Rufus was something special. He was a sweet, gentle man and it was evident, that he fitted in with the polite, civil ways of Japan. But then of course Rufus was used to the country. He had lived here for four years as a child and kept in touch with the nation through his Japanese publishers and fans. Charlie on the other hand didn’t know shit about Japan except for what Rufus had told him. And that wasn’t much.

Charlie had been overwhelmed when Rufus first told him that he wanted Charlie to accompany him to the fan convention, then he had had his doubts, But I don’t know anything about Japan or the Japanese!

That’s easy, Charles, Rufus had smiled. The Japanese love raw fish and toilets with control panels and well-tempered bidets. All communication is smooth and well-groomed in order to make people feel comfortable and serviced, so talk a lot without saying anything.

And that’s it? Charlie had asked.

More or less, Rufus shrugged. Other than that he’d given Charlie three pieces of advice:

    1. Learn how to bow.

    2. Never plant your chopsticks in the rice.

    3. Always have your business card handy.

But I don’t have a business card! Charlie had objected.

Then we’ll make some for you.

Now he had a business card saying Charles Sweetecok, poet, although he wasn’t, really. He was a university student who just dabbled in poetry from time to time.

When Rufus had finished his speech, he had a standing ovation for a full five minutes. Then the floor was open to questions. One daring girl came forward with the first question, You speak Japanese, Fox-sensei?

Not as well as I would like to, Rufus smiled. I assure you, honourable Miss, that you’d understand less of my Japanese than I do of your English.

Charlie knew that Rufus was actually not that bad in speaking Japanese so it was a bit of an insult, but the girl never noticed.

Then more questions followed, all about Rufus’ work, but after half an hour Takahaski-san got up to end the session. He allowed one last question and a blushing teenage girl came forward, Excuse me, Fox-sensei, is your companion Star from the 'Cherry Love' books?

Charlie felt his hair cringe with embarrassment when all eyes suddenly turned to him. Rufus looked at Charlie, too, his eyes warm like his smile, No, honourable Miss. This is not Star, this is… He paused for a moment before continuing, …Sweet Pea. You haven’t heard of him yet.

Sweet Pea? Rufus had never called him Sweet Pea before, but the name made Charlie turn pink. KAA!! He may as well have told the entire audience that they were lovers!

Charlie and Rufus had known each other for eleven months. In the beginning Charlie was earning his way through university by being Rufus’ housekeeper, but for the past eight months they had been lovers. It was a strange situation as Charlie still worked for Rufus, Rufus paying him wages and letting him stay at his home for free. It sometimes made Charlie feel like a kept man, a toy boy. Although it wasn’t true, of course. Rufus was the sweetest person Charlie had ever known, always attentive, always supportive. He didn’t look upon Charlie as a toy boy. Or did he?

Rufus was ten years his senior and it was always him who called the shots in bed. He made love to Charlie on a regular basis and never once had he let Charlie top. What did that mean?

    1. That Rufus had a problem with being the bottom?

    2. That he was afraid that Charlie couldn’t do it right?

    3. That Charlie was just a hole for him to use when he got needy?

SHAAA! The thought cut through the air like a knife. Charlie looked up at Rufus who smiled at his sea of fans. No. No, Rufus wasn’t like that.

The session was over and Charlie got up from his chair. He followed Aya-san down from the stage and into a backstage room whereas Rufus stayed out front to sign autographs and have his picture taken with fans. Charlie’s jealousy returned as they were really beautiful, those fans, but luckily he was distracted by Aya-san who presented him with water and fruit.

I hope it is to your liking, Sweepee-kun, she bowed.

My name is not… Charlie started, but he dropped it. His name wasn’t Sweecok-kun, either, just plain Charlie, but that wouldn’t be suitable here in Japan, would it? He dug into the fruit while continuing his thoughts on toy boys.

No, he wasn’t a toy boy to Rufus. He couldn’t be. It was hard enough as it was, Charlie finding it awkward being in love with a man. Deep down he wasn’t even sure if he was gay. GAY. The word had such a definitive ring to it and Charlie sometimes wondered how definitive his present sexual orientation was.

Before he met Rufus he had never been with a man, only girls. And after? Would he know any other men after? But then there wouldn’t be any after, would there? He and Rufus were a couple, weren’t they? They were gonna stick together forever. Or would they?

Charlie had never loved anyone like he loved Rufus, but Rufus had. Charlie knew that. He knew that Star from Rufus’ BL-series was a real guy and he also knew that Rufus sometimes thought about him although they had only met once when they were kids. Charlie started to sweat. Was he just a vague substitute for the lost Star?

    Sweepee-kun?

Charlie was brought back to the present by the pleasant dark voice of Toshiro-san, Can I get you something, Sweepee-kun? I hope you won’t mind me saying, but you look a little ill.

No, thank you, I mean, domo arigatou, Toshiro-san, I am fine.

The slender Toshiro-san exchanged glances with his sister, but none of them spoke.

I’m… Really, I’m fine, Charlie assured him and threw in some bows as well although it was probably out of place. Aya-san smiled, I am pleased to hear that, Sweepee-kun. Will you excuse me, please? Takahashi-senpai needs me.

She got up and left the room, leaving Charlie with her brother. Toshiro-san lit up a cigarette after having offered one to Charlie who shook his head. Toshiro-san looked at him through slanted eyes and Charlie felt himself starting to blush. Toshiro-san really looked a lot like his sister. Charlie wondered if they were twins.

Are you, excuse me, honourable, er, sorry, are you and Aya-san twins?

Yes. Toshiro-san still looked at Charlie. He didn’t seem to
