Preface:
Think Ireland and you will realize this is a land like no other where fairy tales we read and hear so often are actually a part and parcel of the everyday life of the Irish. There are fairy trees in Ireland where you can hear the sounds and voices of the little people so when you walk your way into the story on the angry fairies, just remember that not all fairies come with a wicked tone. There are still the good ones to hear if you are lucky that is... Then there are the leprechauns which some say are so true and of course, you will know this is a land that birthed the ancient druids who have an uncanny manner of telling the fortunes using humans as sacrifices. In the world of the Irish, there is so much to tell like the banshees and the headless horsemen and even the castles which till this day are ready to invite you into their ruins. Or why not consider a night of stay to hear 'em walls knock and bang your nights away! And if you so much as walk past the cairns, remember not to touch and vent your hate on any of those structures. They come with a history, an ancient one that hides something within its folds and some have not always been good in case you haven’t heard….
Ireland is simply steeped in history and many establishments are so well preserved they date back centuries and there's something more about that. When a place grows old over the years, many things could go bump in the night because spirits could stay and when they do, the occurrences will gather as well and people may get frightened or they may not. While the Irish may not fear as much as a visitor would, they will still woo the visitors and test their nerves to try some of the most fascinating places they love so much, places which may hold the big black cat or the sweet dog which still guards its owner's tomb in the wee hours of the night. Try their medieval churches or see the lucky stone if you can.
So, if you think Ireland is a place for you, you might just love the history and the ghost stories which fill this place but try staying in one of the haunted places for the night. You might find a friendly spirit or you might find the nasty banshee ready to claw your eyes out or the horseman who drives his carriage only to stop and disappear at the doorstep! Whatever it takes, here are some haunted stories to tempt you towards the unknown world of the Irish and all are true even the part about the ghost that followed the family to the USA ….
The Strange Incident at Royal Avenue:
Ask anyone in Belfast where Royal Avenue is and they will tell you that this is one street where most of the fun fare begins. There are so many important establishments located on Royal Avenue one of which is Westfield CastleCourt said to be the second largest popular shopping center in Northern Ireland. Westfield CastleCourt sees almost 16 million people every year and then there is the site of the famous Grand Central Hotel which played host to The Rolling Stones and even Sir Winston Churchill. But the top end of the street known as John Street is no longer there and was demolished in the 1880s.
A long time ago, a strange event was said to have occurred in one of the old houses that was located along John Street. It seemed all sorts of furniture would be thrown on the back side of the building and neighbors would find broken pieces of furniture and pottery littering all over the backyard. It annoyed everyone of course that someone was dirtying the yard intentionally but no one could quite tell what was going on. Then some neighbors began to spot an old woman in one of the abandoned houses and she seemed to be in her own world, talking to herself and was truly unhappy. At first the neighbors thought less of the event but when the discards began to happen again, they got worried and notified the authorities. It was only when the authorities checked the
