    Ready or not I must face it,

    Each day bleaker than the last.

    Somewhere inside, I still live,

    Even as the other takes control.

    Mind in agony, as it splinters,

    Bracing for an endless struggle,

    Longing to be whole at last.

    Anguish over what could have been --

    Never able to defeat it, and

    Change what I’ve become.

    Everywhere I look, I still can’t see me.

    It lives

    Tough one it is - that’s for sure,

    The choice to give in, or strive for pure.

    For some time now, each year it grows,

    Unable I’ve been to oppose.

    Perhaps, it was there from the start,

    Slowly tearing me apart.

    Cold and hard, it grips me tight,

    I can’t free it with all my might.

    As the evil takes its toll

    I fight for remains of my soul.
