      Introduction:

      In 2006, I walked in on my then-boyfriend – let’s call him Andrew – having sex with someone else. As cool and collected as I come across on my blog (http://nandoism.com), I broke the bedroom door down – Praise the Lord for those kickboxing classes! And there was Andrew, the love of my life, in our bed with our close friend. Close is right – if they were any closer, I wouldn’t have been able to tell where his body began and the other guy’s ended. Had I not come home early that Sunday afternoon after my mid-summer Taco Bell run, I never would have known they were bumping uglies. That day, after hyperventilating and suffering a Mexican heart attack – that’ when a Mexican drops his Supreme Cheese Chalupa on the floor – I stuffed a suitcase with all my things and moved out, never to look back.

      I remained single for a long time after that – four years, if you really want to know. And in those four years, I learned a lot about myself. I discovered my single self, my creative self, and my sexual self. Those three components combined created Nandoism. I dated and bumped some uglies of my own along the way, but it wasn’t until recently that I finally met that special someone I felt I was ready to be in a relationship with, and took that exciting/scary leap of faith.

      Self-discovery didn’t come easy; it just wasn’t in my Dating DNA. In technical terms, DNA is a nucleic acid that holds the genetic instructions used
