About this ebook

Are Christians responsible for the commandments in the Old Testament? Are we "under the law"?

Paul seems to argue for both sides throughout the New Testament, so much so that Peter even says Paul's writings are "hard to understand" in 2 Peter 3:16.

This book is an attempt to dispel the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde complex in Paul, and take an out-of-the-box look at "Torah" in the New Testament.

    Preface

This book is written to open minded believers who are looking for something more in their relationship with their Messiah.

A few years ago I went to a revival and heard a man teach from the Old Testament as if it were still relevant today, including the commandments in it. I already knew this was wrong but I had never proven it personally. I went home and studied on the topic and ended up changing my mind based on what the scriptures said. All this time I had been reading the Book with biased eyes. It’s amazing what you can learn from scripture if you just let it speak for itself.

I found very quickly that prior to the writings of Paul you really won’t find any evidence for doing away with the law. Since the Bible has a consistent message throughout, I set out to look at what Paul really said and to see if it agreed with the rest of the Bible.

At first it looked like Paul had a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde complex. Sometimes he seemed to be for the Law and other times he seemed to be against it. This book is an attempt to show you that Paul wasn’t confused and he didn’t change his mind constantly. People have twisted what he said to mean something else while ignoring the passages in his letters that disagree with their viewpoint.

This is an attempt to take the scriptures from Paul’s writings used to say the commandments are not valid for a New Testament believer, and to show them in their proper light. I’ll follow each counterpoint up with a point. Instead of attempting to prove my viewpoint, I’ll try to disprove the opposition first, then present the opposing argument.

Hopefully we can go over this material and keep it light weight and light hearted. This won’t answer every question or every argument against this understanding, but I hope it will tip the balances enough to convince you to research this issue on your own.

I can only speak from personal experience that this revelation has been a life-changing blessing to me and my family, and I hope it will be to you and yours, too!

    1. Paul the difficult

Paul’s epistles have been used by everybody to prove everything. Paul was arguably the most divisive writer in the New Testament. He was no stranger to causing trouble when he felt like it was necessary. He
