    Chapter One: Introduction

    Sir Ian Terence Botham is regarded as the best all-rounder England has ever had in the game of cricket. He was equally good with ball and bat.

    Botham was born on 24th of November 1955 in Heswall on the Wirral. His father Herbert Leslie Botham used to work for Westland and his mother Violet Marie was a nurse.

    Botham is a former cricketer who represented England for a fairly long time. He also became the captain of the English Test team. His records in the international cricket establish him as a genuine all rounder. He has scored fourteen centuries with the bat and has captured 383 Test wickets in his cricketing career.

    Botham is well known by his nickname Beefy. His career
