Introduction
The delicate beauty and colorful variety of orchids make them so appealing that they seem to take on a mystical quality. This ancient flower has delighted millions with its enchanting scent and unique shape. The lush green leaves and distinguishing petals are attractive in a lovely, stylish way. Orchids are living, natural pieces of art.
The family of orchids includes more than 26,000 known species, which make up around one tenth of the entire group of classified seed and fruit plants. There are so many to choose from, and each of them has their own magnificence, it can be hard to know where to start when looking for your first orchid.
These plants are versatile and look great as houseplants in any style of home and they can also flourish in greenhouses, gardens, and other outdoor areas, given the proper climate and conditions.
Thus, orchids are not unique just because of their looks. Many people do not understand that orchids require specialized care, though they are usually very hardy plants if the proper care is given to them. Unlike most other houseplants, they are not planted in soil and so their growing and blooming needs differ from those that most people are used to providing for their plants.
