About this ebook

Short story/novella (25,572 words)

Ashley is in a relationship with an older man. She is twenty-three and he is fifty-one and there are times when that is almost unbearable. Ashley loves David with all that she has, but she cannot cope with the idea of settling down so young, before she has even lived. It is selfish and wrong, but she has an affair. David learns of it, and they try to work past it, but the difficulties seem almost insurmountable. Ashley has cheated, but she refuses to lie, and promising David she will never cheat again, when she isn’t sure she can, seems like a lie.

Then David suggests a deal. A get out of jail free card. Ashley will only sleep with other women, not with men. David thinks he could live with that, and not be destroyed by jealousy, and he thinks he can trust her to keep her promise, once it is made. Ashley agrees, unsure she’ll ever need the free pass, or want to use it, but seeing it as the only way to save them.

Two years pass, and Ashley meets Rose, and Rose is like no-one Ashley has ever met before. Ashley is honest about her situation, and tells Rose it can never be anything more than sex between them, and Rose has her own reasons for wanting that. But their lives become entangled, and they become friends as well as lovers, and the choices both are making threaten to spiral out of control.

This is not erotica, and isn’t really a romance. It has sex, and is romantic, and is about a relationship, but isn’t really either of those genres. It’s about one couple’s attempt at an open relationship, and the beginning of the involvement of a third person. I just wanted to warn everyone so no-one is disappointed if this isn’t what they expected from me.

So first, thank you to everyone for all the support. I’m really pleased and flattered and grateful that people are actually interested in reading what I write.Just, thank you!So without further ado, hi, I’m Tess and I write smut. And sometimes other things. But mostly I try to write slightly thinky, realistic, character-driven erotica. That’s what I think I’m doing, anyway. People do kinky stuff, but hopefully in the way real people might, when they’re having an especially good day. Which is to say, I write about people in strong relationships trying new things, like bringing in new sex partners, and sometimes about their relationships getting complicated and ending, too, but usually in ways that mean its for the best. So people change, and develop, and live their lives, and that’s connected to the sex they’re having. And they have a lot of sex. Some of what I write is about women and men, and some of it is about women and other women, and this should be clear from the blurbs. So anyways. Here’s the new plan. I’m going to start putting everything I write up for free as soon as it’s done.Yep, that's right. Everything I ever write. All of it. Free.I should probably write that as FREE!!!Then, every so often, I’ll also make anthology collections and put them up for a price. Because then it can be like a weird validation thing, with the getting paid. But without actually stopping anyone from reading. So that all sounds a bit weird right? Everything’s free except it isn’t? Well, I really like this place, and I also like people reading what I write. So it kind of makes sense, at least to me. And yes, it is kind of part of a devious plan to, um, I don't know, win you over, I guess, and guilt you into one day eventually buying things. But really, really mild guilt, I completely promise. So don’t worry if you ever end up buying anything. Read all the same!Because, yeah, I want to sell billions of books one day, but I also want people just to read what I write, and I don’t want people to feel pressured to pay, and this all seems like it might work.So just to be really, completely clear, so no-one is upset when they realize later on. The anthology books collect stories into an actual book, and an ebook is probably easier to read, and if you would like to buy it, I would really appreciate it, and that would be fantastic. But on the other hand, if you’d rather try reading a little first, or would rather not pay at all for whatever reason, then please don’t!Because the stories in the books are the same stories as are already up for free as stand-alone ones. And the ones that aren’t, those are on my website, and are usually the shorter or less smutty ones.So if you’re already paid for stuff, please don’t feel like you’re getting tricked here or something, because paying has always been only if you wanted to, and you didn’t have to. This is just trying the same idea on a bigger scale. And if you have paid in the past too, you really don’t need to pay again, there isn’t anything new you can’t get elsewhere.I mean, except the new stories as they appear, which I’ll keep putting up as free, like I have been for the last month or so anyway. So basically, there’s no need to pay for anything unless you want to.So right. We’re all clear on this?Yay!And also, um, thank you. Really, just thank you all heaps for reading what I’ve written until now, and wanting to read other things, and just for everything, really.
