- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5"God has made us His priests and has established principles in the Promised Land; we not only should teach His principles, we should also live by them. Then we will make our ways prosperous and enjoy the good of the land." (Chris Oyakhilome, "The Promised Land", Page 165)
When I first started this book, the only time I had really ever heard of the "Promised Land" was when I heard of the story of the children of Israel when they were slaves in Egypt and Moses came and was used by God to deliver them from the hand of Pharaoh. After the plaques God unleashed, they then spoiled Egypt, departed and journeyed to the Promised Land. The Bible describes this land as "a land flowing with milk and honey" (See Exodus 3:17).
The reason this book appealed to me was because I believe we are in a real-life "exodus" today. We are marching away from these plaques of Egypt ("the coronavirus"); however, as we do, satan is in hot pursuit and trying to bring us back to the plaque. I have good news for you, we are in a season of recovery and will enter the Promised Land! As we carefully listen to God, do what is right in His eyes, pay attention to His commands and decrees, God will make sure that none of these diseases of Egypt (the world) shall come upon us! (See Exodus 15:26)
I learned in this book that the Promised Land was actually mentioned and promised to Abraham before the Israelites in Egypt (See Genesis 22:17 and 26:4). However, the author makes us realize that we as believers are in the Promised Land: The Kingdom of God and Son Jesus Christ! We have been forgiven of our sins, saved, and are in a Kingdom full of righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit! We have been made kings and priests and are called to rule, reign, and minister to God's people (and those who are without) in the spirit of love and truth.
This book has some history as recorded in the Bible about the Promised Land, but it also takes you to the present Promised Land (The Kingdom of God) and how if we live by the principles of this Kingdom (the Word of God), we shall make our way prosperous and eat the good of the land.
