    Many children from all over Britain were evacuated from the United Kingdom,during the space of 3 days. From 1st until 3rd September 1939.
    The British government organised this evacuation to make sure all children of school age would be transported to a place of safety in liew of the pending War wih Germany. The process was named "Operation Pied Piper."
    The group I have included in my short story though is only about the children from my own school in Glasgow. Crookston Street was among the first group to leave since we were closer to the Clydeside where it was deemed to be a future target for the bombers. I have given a short description of the birth of Glasgow at the front of my book for interest sake.
    Some of the events of World war during the blitzes were very traumatic, and hard to forget.
    The tenement where I was born, and the lovely people who looked after me in Kilbirnie, and whom I had grown fond of. How I accidently found their address in later years and met up with them again, to their delight,

    I am an elderly widow ( 82) I took a short story course when I was younger and obtained a Diploma from the School of Authorship in London. I have never tried to sell my work untill now, and I made up a book on Microsoft Publisher, which I must say looked good, and I received a write up concerning it from the Editor of the DPH Society in Dunning Perthshire.I am currently busy converting this to Microsoft Word - hence the delay. It had text boxes.I am just a determined old granny who has had a varied life. I came through the traumas of World War 2, I have nursed many adults and children in Scotland with the old dreaded Fevers. I have served in the WRAF as a Dental Assistant, and tried my hand at Bisley rifle range whilst there.I emmigrated to S.AFrica in 1968 with my husband and 3 children, where I continued with yet another hobby...Oil Painting.I have however reverted back to the writing to see if I can leave behind a legacy of some sort.and at the same time add something to my meagre pension.

      Foreword

      This is a true account of the evacuation of a particular group of children from the centre of Glasgow Scotland and I wrote it from my own experience as an evacuee, I have made particular reference to my own old Primary School, which, was in Carnoustie Street near to the Paisley Road and Kingston Docks.

      The British Government took dramatic action in 1939 when they decided to evacuate three million children from their homes in the city centers, packing them off to safe houses in the countryside, and they named it Operation Pied Piper. Parents were so terrified of the oncoming war threat that they agreed wholeheartedly with this decision.

      About Glasgow

      The Missionary, St Mungo, founded the City of Glasgow in the 6th Century. He is its Patron Saint. , moreover, a 12th Century Cathedral, is dedicated to him

      In 1451, Bishop Turnbull founded the University. During the border wars, Glasgow was a rallying point for Scottish armies engaged in feuds and battles with England.

      In particular, with the city of Carlyle, Up until the 18th Century, Glasgow remained a small port, market, and University City. Then the dredging of the Clyde improved navigation and the city’s trade. Shipbuilding and manufacturing increased rapidly.

      The city grew quickly expanding beyond limits of the old town centered round the Cathedral. Today it is Scotland’s largest City. Much of the old City has disappeared and massive re-development has been in progress for some years.

      During the World War 2 nightly blitzes, Hitler pinpointed the Clyde as one of his targets because of its shipbuilding and manufacturing in the Fairfield Shipyards in the Govan area of Glasgow. Both Glasgow and Clydebank were constantly bombed during the Blitzes. Hence,
