The Black Hands
Alex woke up with pins and needles in his hands one morning. Assuming he’d slept on them, he tried to shake it off, but the sensation didn’t lessen. When he left for his lectures, his fingers still tingled and a slight throb had started in his palm.
The throbbing stopped. The tingling continued.
His fingers started to go grey dark circles forming on each fingertip. He wasn't sure what to make of it, and three days later, when the grey colour had reached the first joints of his fingers, he made his way to the Student Health Centre and waited for a doctor.
Then his fingers moved on their own.
In the waiting room, Alex played with his phone, texting his friends, playing solitaire. He was making a move, placing a six, when his index finger moved an inch to the right, turning another three cards instead. He almost dropped the phone. He had lost all feeling in the finger for a second, just a second, and it had moved. He wasn't even sure
