    Many great authors and philosophers through the ages have incorporated the attributes of rocks in their writings. Their words resonate the beauty and immortality from sand to mountains and often leave the reader with a feeling of peace and elegance. I wanted to try that too. This is my beginner's attempt toward that aspiration.

    M E N D I N G F E N C E

    Through the winter betwixt the snows

    The gnomes have been at their trouble

    My spring field is full of stones anew

    That I must be rid of before I shovel.

    A pyre of rock in the middle of my lot

    Would be, as I see, of no good to me.

    If I cast them to my neighbors’ plot,

    A war would start which may not cease.

    Therefore, I neatly lay them line to line

    Edge on edge between him and me

    Fences made of stone, coarse and fine,
