About this ebook
This is the third collection of Karin's short stories and vignettes. What the reader will find in this newest volume are grainier depictions and some of her more intricate character depictions.
Ms. Tupper has a flair for the descriptive and it is evident in the works that are included in A Grain Of Truth ~ Short Stories by The Relinquished Muse.
Sit back in a quiet moment and lose yourself in some of the places visited here, meet some of the people who populate these pages and the world beyond the literary.
Karin Bole Tupper
Karin Bole Tupper currently works at Health Canada, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. She studied to become a Certified Dental Assistant and was published in her professional association’s magazine. A career detour into the burgeoning High Tech industry followed very quickly and while working as a Documentation Controller, the opportunity to learn technical writing came with the job description. Always an artistic and creative spirit, Karin pursued many different traditional crafts, including writing for personal enjoyment. She honed these skills over the years of marriage and motherhood and soon had a rewarding knitwear design business developing alongside with raising two children and a full-time job. Her knitting blog, started in 2006, is a lively spot and an informal glimpse into her world and her warm, intimate writing style. More recently, Karin has worked with Skyreader Media, doing voice over work. You can hear her on the highly acclaimed e-reader application for children, “Wiggens Makes Friends at the San Diego Zoo” Her writing is focused primarily on poetry and short stories. The often fact-based fiction that she pens encompasses romance, parody, loss, family and relationships, with a demonstrated flair for the descriptive. Karin lives in Canada’s Capital, surrounded by family and friends; too much yarn and not enough books.

Knight’s Return
She sat in the deep window well with her needlework, forgotten for the moment, in her lap. Straining to see through the deepening twilight and falling snow. Looking for the colours of his house among the many that flew in the column of the returning army. Juliette kept her company during her watch. Dearest Juliette, a friend since childhood. Rose Red to her Snow White, playing her lute through the afternoon, meaning the notes to sooth but setting it down at this moment to refill her mistress' glass of mead, ever mindful of her station and duties. For Karin, this didn't matter, she saw only the thoughtful gesture. She shared the good fortune of her life graciously and without expectation or desire of more than a true friend in this Noble's house. She trusted few... intrigue was everywhere and here were troubled times. She knew much of the reason for the battle but no one truly knew the enemy.
