    To my wife, June, we shall always journey through life together.

    Chapter One

    After seventeen months of duty at Space Station Pluto, Ensign Shawn Michael MacTavish headed home to Earth and his murdered wife. The space gram arrived with the supplies from Earth. We’ve made room for you onboard, the ship’s captain said. Be ready for blastoff in an hour."

    Ensign MacTavish. Your wife, Lorelei Lunar, the Darling of the Star System’s Feelies-Dreamies, was found murdered at your Martian home. A preliminary investigation discovered her death was caused by strangulation and a broken neck. The star systems weep.

    He wadded the gram up and threw it against the ship’s left bulkhead. Later, sleep came and gave him nightmares.

    * * * *

    Basil T Huntington swore for three minutes. He stood, walked to his liquor cabinet, poured Martian Volcano Juice into a crystal glass, took deep swallows of it and thought of the trouble coming his way because of a trollop named Lorelei Lunar.

    Lorelei Lunar, a blonde, blue eyed goddess of beauty, loved by all, and wanted by every man. Those who really knew her realized she was a completely rotten human being who was a taker asking for everything she could possess. Lorelei Lunar in her entire selfish existence had never once been a giver.

    Basil T. Huntington was one of the privileged individuals to know the true woman behind that artificial shell the populated star systems knew as Feelie-Vision Actress. Lorelei Lunar had made a play for him the second they were introduced. That she was married didn’t seem to bother her in the slightest, and Huntington laughingly went along with the luscious bedroom game she openly invited him to play. Why the hell not? She was young, a beautiful but rotten human, who lived by the code, Take all you can from the suckers, but make damn sure you give nothing back to them in return except a romp in the bedroom, which will only amount to a smell of my armpits unless they give me the world.

    He had the credits, the time, and her husband was not around, nor would he be for seventeen months. So why not do the bedroom scene with the lady who thought her armpits smelled like exotic scents imported from the stars? Things were great in the bedroom and almost anywhere else, until Lorelei dropped the maternal bomb.

    I’m pregnant. Her comment was a nonchalant matter of fact statement.

    Huntington lounged in an easy chair, stared into his drink for a second before taking a sip.

    I said I’m pregnant. This time her voice was far from nonchalant.

    Are you really, my dear? How very strange that that could happen to you. I understand many Feelie-Vision Actresses have an operation that keeps them from becoming pregnant. Do you mean to tell me you didn’t? You could also have used pills and avoided the surgery.

    From my present condition, it’s obvious you also didn’t have certain things done to your gorgeous male body. I wanted to have children, Basil, and I’m going to have yours.

    Yes, it would seem so, seeing as how your husband has been gone for sixteen months and you haven’t been romping anybody except me, have you, my dear, that is, nobody else I’m aware of. It’s all going to be very unfortunate for you when he comes home and finds you in a condition he didn’t have the pleasure of causing.

    No it isn’t, Basil. As soon as Shawn Michael returns, I’ll divorce him and marry you.

    Nonsense, Lorelei, my precious one. Surely you’re aware that all you have to do is swallow a few convenient pills and you’ll no longer have a baby. Then you can keep your marriage with Shawn Michael. Huntington smiled at her. I just had a thought I’m sure must be correct. You deliberately became pregnant. Am I right, my dear?

    Lorelei Lunar reddened with embarrassment. Her words struggled to be said for several seconds before her voice expressed triumph. "Yes, Basil. I became knocked up on purpose because I want you and I want your way of life. I’m going to have everything you’ve got. You owe me because you’ve had the pleasure of my company. I’m going to have
