About this ebook

The purpose is to clarify certain discrepancies that come up every time the term 'submission' is used. The scriptures are very clear on the subject.
In this treatise I endeavor to expose the misuse of the word; the real meaning and purpose why it is an essential foundation stone of Christian character.
The persons in the stories share the same emotions and were confronted with similar demands that are common to all humans.
For believers the understanding of 'Servant-hood' and 'Servant-Heart' will be evident. The first, a job, an obligation, a chore to be performed. The second an open and willing attitude that is the foundation stone of Christian faith.

    Preface

It was a warm, breezy summer morning where time seemed to stand still. I really did enjoy going in to work that day. Since my retirement from the auto industry, the part-time job at my church was perfect for me.

On my way there, I began listening to the Bible on tape cassette – yes tape cassettes. I’d inherited them from my mother.

It was the Epistle of the Apostle Paul to Timothy read in Spanish. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in a Spanish speaking home, I did my best to maintain a reasonable level of fluency in my native tongue.

It’s almost comical the things you do while driving oblivious to your surroundings. I don’t remember if I was singing away. Suddenly, I heard myself saying aloud: There is Power in Submission!

I played that phrase in my mind over again with no idea of why the thought had hit me so strongly. If you were watching me from another vehicle you might have wondered who I was talking to since I had no cell phone next to my ear. I questioned God what that meant. It occurred to me that it would be very interesting to explore in more depth this sudden thought.

As I drove into the church parking area biblical heroes marched across my mind like a movie on a screen. I envisioned their somewhat unremarkable lives prior to their encounter and eventual calling to an entirely new vocation prepared by God. As I watched one scene after the other until it culminated with the life of Jesus and His total submission to the Father God and the standard He chose to live by.

I’m famous for forgetting things, so when I entered the lunch area, I found some paper.

    If I don’t write it down …

In the ensuing days I found myself digging deeper into the lives of each character. It was mesmerizing.

They were relatively simple people like us who because of God’s touch lived out truly amazing lives. I asked myself; what was the one thing that separated them from the rest?

I wondered what direction it would take if I could explore the ‘unwritten’ backdrop and events of their lives. Why not do a semi-bio of their
