    CHAPTER 1

    ON BECOMING ONESELF

    Enthusiasm

In line with contributing to you in achieving more and most, we would like to share an important ingredient which is required in our life for us. We may have great knowledge, talent, skills and domain expertise in our field. But along with all these, if we have enthusiasm only then can we derive the optimum achievement in our life.

Enthusiasm is derived from the Greek word Enthos, which means, Align with God. Let us not argue whether god exists or not, that is not our subject today. But knowingly or unknowingly, our forefathers, and we, have attributed a lot of qualities to God and developed a character for him: He is powerful; he can do anything; nothing is impossible for him; he is good and enjoys all the time, and so on. Consider for example, the Dasavathara stories we all have heard; again, let us not go into the argument about whether it is all imaginary or it really happened. According to me, the learning that I got from the Dasavathara is, For human evolution in one life time.

Now let us discuss Enthusiasm. To cite an example, we have two avatars that we cherish and worship: Rama and Krishna. Rama avatar was full of miseries and turmoil because he doesn’t know He is God himself. But, take Krishna. His life was full of joy and happiness, because he knows He is God. You see, even on Rama’s birthday we get only buttermilk and candy juice. But on Krishna’s birthday we get lot of sweets, butter, snacks, etc., Right from his childhood he has been enjoying; that is the character of Krishna. Now, Enthusiasm, or Align with god, means you imbibe and internalize the qualities of God in you. Embrace Krishna in you. Start enjoying whatever you do in your life, like playing, chatting, studying, etc.

Before the Kurukshetra war, both Duryodhana and Arjuna came to Krishna for his support. Krishna said that all the soldiers and armories are there on one side and, on the other side, only me as Krishna is there. Krishna asked them to select whichever they want. Duryodhana selected all the soldiers and armories, which are similar to our knowledge, talent, skills, expertise etc. But Arjuna preferred Krishna himself, which is Enthusiasm. And you know who won the war. Arjuna won the war because of the enthusiastic character, Krishna himself, with him. So embrace enthusiasm by developing Krishna’s character and the qualities of Krishna in you. Imbibe and internalize the same in you and derive optimum achievements through your armories—knowledge, skills and expertise to achieve more and most and be vibrant all the time.

    Inner Energy

After being enthusiastic by imbibing and internalizing the bubbly character in us with all the armors, let us now see how to set our inner energy to get optimum output for achieving more and most. All of us have a lot of desires that we want to achieve in our lifetime. And everyone you come across, on the campus or off the campus, will talk about or inquire about your goal and try to advise or teach how to set a goal. At Vibrant, we call this Destination. Once your destination is fixed, the way to reach the destination, the Direction to Destination, will be easy. For example, suppose you and your family wants to go to for a vacation. What is the first thing you will decide? You decide the place you want to visit and only then you will decide how to travel, where to stay, what you want to do, etcetera. In the same way in our life, we should decide first what we want to become. That is our destination or professional achievement. Once that is decided, then finding out how to reach there is very, very easy.

According to me, the real objective of education is, It should transform an individual from being to becoming. What you want to become is so important. At least today, set your goal and fix your destination. Once that is done, let us see how to reach the direction to your destination. It is very difficult to build an empire such as Microsoft, Apple or Infosys in one lifetime. I do not doubt the capacities and capabilities of the founders of these empires (Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or our Narayana Murthy). Siddartha could not attain enlightenment in one lifetime and become the Buddha. But he attained it. How? There are millions of people on this planet thinking of or desiring to achieve enlightenment. But Siddartha made his start with a dominant thought. He pursued it with unaltered and unshakable faith and set his inner energy or vibration right, which attracted all the vibrations of others, who, unlike him, simply thought and did not pursue with faith and passion. This made Siddartha metamorphose from Siddartha to Buddha in one single lifetime. The same concept is applicable for Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Apple’s Steve Jobs and Infosys’ Narayana Murthy—and to many more achievers of this world.

Any thought will create energy or a vibration. And when you make the thought about your goal or destination or desire as your dominant thought, and pursue it with such enthusiasm and passion that makes every cell in your body vibrate and attract all the energy and vibration created by the thoughts of other people, it should show you the way to achieve your goal or lay your direction for your destination. So, develop enthusiasm, set a goal or a destination for yourself and make that your dominant thought. Let it vibrate through all the systems and cells of your body, attract the
