About this ebook

The Tower of London holds secrets and many of them not always good to hear. Who knows how many were killed and tortured in this place that went undocumented. And some say you never will know which room becomes the interrogation chamber...the records do not always tell now, do they?
When you explore this selection of ghost stories, you will learn about the ghosts which live in the tower and of the mighty Anne Boleyn, a smart thinking woman when alive, now a spook "that" has been known to send heart attacks to all those who possibly dare her. Then be sure to read the pathetic story of one Catherine Howard, sometimes known as the Screaming Lady, of the historic manors which grace England's land and of ghosts which have their own nasty agenda at heart.
And while you're at it, have you wondered sometimes that witchcraft may still be alive without you knowing? No one needs to tell you when witches strike, and so when Charles Walton turned up dead, there were certain facts that bothered Scotland Yard so much they nagged their way through the village only no one would tell. Haunted England: True Ghost Stories II welcomes you with its spooky treats right within its folds....

    Preface:

For many of us, the Tower of London is a symbol of strength and valor. A quick look will only wrap you more in its complete awe. You will feel the strength that it sets and you will then wonder of the many hands which toiled to realize its birth. Indeed, it is a symbol of fortitude for the old monarchy that watched over London and today, it is a living testimony to the order that it once held over London and to all who dared tread the soil of good ol' England.

Travel into the mysterious corners of the many towers which sit in this spot and you will be told about the fascinating structures which make each one of them a part of a complete puzzle piece. There is just something mysterious which looms within this medieval tower that has spanned close to ten centuries. And in the night, if you dare, the talk may very well change to something else…the stories of the many guards who lost their hearts to fright guarding the tower. The problem is the tower has ghosts and they are spirits simply fortified really strong and stubborn. Many of those who work in the tower refuse to spare their time in the night and that's not a surprise. The ghost of Anne Boleyn for all the regality she bore in her days as Queen consort, seems too steadfast and headstrong. She is a ghost who has her convictions all set out for her even in the real world which she daringly walks on holding her head quite closely by that is. As a matter of fact, she has been known to frighten many of the guards to death for the many centuries gone past. And that's not a joke. She is quite the lady ghost to see and I'll tell you why as you read on…

Visit the Salt Tower and know that this is one of the most disturbing spots to be in. Imagine being alone in the dark hearing the wails and cries of Jesuit priests who have been trapped within its walls, many tortured and many more restless for not being able to do the one thing they loved to do in the world they knew - serving God. And what of Hampton Court and the story of the Screaming Lady? Guess who that might be!

In this section of Haunted England: True Ghost Stories Part II, you will find stories on the royal ghosts including those which reside in the Tower of London and Hampton Court as well as the story on the Borley Rectory. As you wander through this read, you will also chance upon the story that seeks out the truth about the mysterious death of Charles Walton and among others are the stories which explore the black dog of Newgate, haunted houses in England and the supernatural stories which while some may shrug to be nothing more than lore, may have shown some truth over the trail of time. Ghosts do exist. I have seen them and felt the angels speak. The point is if you have seen the dark, there will be light just as well…

But of course, not everyone wants to believe in ghosts. Yet, if you follow the beat of the supernatural world, there's more than just the voices you hear and the cloudy look that walks past which you know all too well bears the look of a shadowy human face. Ghosts are there and if you believe in them, they will show themselves to you. If you don't, they might just be intrigued to pivot their attention on to you until you believe what you see or most often, they may just walk away to find the next spot to rouse their energy so they'll be heard loud and clear. That said, it's only because they're bored of you that they left…which is good a measure in itself! Who needs ghosts around them!

So, if you are thinking that it's a draft of air that just went past you, you could be right. If you think that it is a ghost you see, you could well be right too. England has full of hot spots for ghost hunting and ghost tours, and if your heart's ready to accept the inevitable, just know that not all ghosts are always bad. There are some which can be funny, some which are lost and there are many who are just forgotten souls which think that by going through the same routine they got by in their living life, they might just be able to circumvent and find the way they always thought it should have been….that's a measure of foolishness if you ask the real me.

You see the problem with ghosts is they never realize they should have just followed the light and found the path that awaits them. If they choose to go past and seek the one that walks into the other world, it is most likely they have made a terrible blunder. They have gone too deep into the twilight zone and like a broken tape recorder, they run their lost lives over and over again…what a pity I should say for being so weak and silly even in the after life…

    What's in Chingle Hall?:

Chingle Hall which is located in the village of Goosnargh, once thought to be an old Viking village, is possibly one of the most haunted brick houses in Britain. There are 16 ghosts which have been documented in this house. Previous visitors to the house have claimed to hear many voices which can be heard echoing throughout the house sometimes followed by screams. On several occasions, there are the sounds of objects being moved as well. Some people have also reported poltergeist activities and seen shadows in specific corners of the house.

The priest room for instance is said to be very haunted and is very cold. Here, many activities would have been conducted during the reformation period to continue the practice of the Catholic faith. The owners of Chingle Hall would have quietly engaged in masses and set up tunnels and priest holes to protect the priests from the soldiers who camped outside for days hoping that the priests would make unwary steps to fall into their traps.

    History

Chingle Hall was formerly known as Singleton Hall and was constructed in 1260 by Adam de Singleton. The Singleton family is known to have lived in the house until the 16th century and then passed ownership to their relatives, the Wall family sometime in 1585. The well known Catholic martyr John Wall was born in Chingle Hall in 1620. In 1641, he became a Catholic priest. He was a staunch Catholic being a Franciscan priest and continued to practice Catholicism during the time of the
