    The vision of a rose was a rare and welcome one for Diana Davis. Although the floral gem before her came in the form of an elaborate illustration, she nonetheless savored its beauty and radiance.

    With careful fingers, she touched the scarlet red petals that distinguished this ebullient portrait, taking note of the resemblance shared by this flower and the finest of sparkling rubies. She admired the roundness and rich contours that defined this bud, and she grinned as her senses were further teased with a sweet perfumed scent.

    Finally tearing her gaze from the painted rose, Diana’s eyes next perused the handwritten note emblazoned underneath, one written in neat but flowing strokes across a fine textured piece of crème-colored stationery.
