About this ebook

They say law schools are for smart people - people who have good heads on their shoulders. Can they double as life schools? Where religion, culture and taboos loom over the supposedly good heads, it is hard to say.

No Bigger Mistake is full of life’s mistakes. It is not just another story about twin brothers who chase the same girl. Here is a book for young Kenyans that depicts and speaks their language. The author touches on almost every aspect of life in Kenya: our justice system, ethnic tensions, tribal disparity, polygamy, drugs and even the unspoken gay world. A welcome deviation from stereotype and the everyday ‘writing about Africa’.

No Bigger Mistake might just show you that some apples do fall far from the tree, except they may have a few scratches here and there.

Set in a fictional law school in Kenya, the young adult novel written by a young author surrounds twin brothers CJ and Tuma, who chase a fairly unstable girl, Hera. This unwelcome love triangle is further complicated by Cheptoo, a young woman the trio could have grown up knowing.

As a first timer, Irene Assumpter Sumi has avidly touched the surface of almost every issue that confronts our beloved country. Irene refreshingly deviates from stereotype in this book. In doing so she has captured the Kenya scene of the 21st century as it affects the young generation. The author gives her readers an enjoyable safari through different terrain.

Without giving the game away, I want to add that the novel is a very cleverly contrived plot with an easy flow of words. I found Irene’s work of fiction an interesting read and I am sure that it will prove equally attractive to her readers. Kenya indeed has a talented and promising writer.
I wish No Bigger Mistake a runaway success.
