    Chapter One: Introduction to Anna Karenina

    Anna Karenina is considered as one of the greatest novels written by the Russian author Leo Tolstoy.

    The novel was published in serial installments between the year 1873 and 1877 in the periodical The Russian Messenger.

    In the final installment of the novel, some political issues developed, and as a result Tolstoy had an argument with its editor Mikhail Katkov.

    Tolstoy’s unpopular views of volunteers going to Serbia were there in the final installment of the book. However, he decided to publish it in book form and it appeared as a complete novel.
