The story of Goldfinger
revolves around the investigation by M16 operative James Bond into the gold smuggling activities of Auric Goldfinger.
M16 has the suspicion that Auric Goldfinger is connected to SMERH, the Soviet counter intelligence agency.
While establishing the background to the smuggling operations, James Bond reveals a much bigger plot. Goldfinger has planned to steal the gold reserves of the United States of America from Fort Knox.
In the earlier six Bond novel, the character of James Bond was not
