Until things began to change. Kaleo wanted to take their relationship to the next level, especially since she's having his baby. He didn't understand why she hesitated if she really loved him. Her commitment issues and life and death situations would not keep him from pursuing the woman he loves.

    Dedication

This ebook is dedicated to my husband, family, and friends who helped, as well as supported me, to make my dreams a reality.

    Chapter One

Malia sat on her granny’s porch swaying back and forth with the cordless phone in her hand as she nibbled on the tip of a finger from her other hand.

Should I call him? Maybe I should. I did leave wrong and it’s been four months. But nobody forces me to do nothing I don’t want to do. Love or no love, it’s not going to happen.

She looked at the phone and hit the zero button to begin making the long distance call to the States.

I can’t. How will I tell him? He will think the worst of me, and I left him. Kaleo… What should I do? Granny? No, she’ll just say, you shouldn’t have left in the first place, and that I need to make my mind up.

She started pacing the floor back and forth, trying to make a decision.

Granny would just keep it going, she don’t stop. The next thing she would say is, get your head out of de clouds girl, come and sit with your folk a while. Like that’s supposed to solve all my problems.

Malia had been staying with her Granny for months in Montego Bay, St. James Jamaica. It was where she lived before she left for school in Hilo, Hawaii. After she graduated she fell in love with Hawaii and decided to make it her permanent home. She knew she could run away to Granny’s whenever she needed to be grounded, or just for some simple advice.

She always knew Granny as her grandmother, but loved and saw her as much more since her mother died giving birth to her. Every time Malia looked around, there wasn’t a moment she didn’t remember some event in her childhood. She stood on the edge of the porch with the cordless phone still in her hand. The warm morning breeze could put even a baby to sleep. It was quiet and very peaceful.

Yes, this is just what I needed. Maybe I should’ve came home straight after college. But no, as soon as I met Kaleo I had to be with him, and soon as I parted my legs to him I was hooked.

Malia turned around to go look for Granny in the house, but stopped in her tracks when she saw her reflection in the glass door. She examined her image from head to toe. Her hair was blowing in the breeze all over her head. The bright orange-blonde color of her hair made her look like the sun.

Wow, I just noticed my hair has gotten longer. My skin looks clear and smooth like caramel.

She looked further down to check out her clothes.

Oh no! I’m starting to gain weight. I can tell. I wonder if anyone else can. I need to get this taken care of before I talk to Granny. I need to confirm what I hope is not the case with this weight gain.

She ran in the house to get her pocketbook, and left Granny a note before she got up to question her. She knew Granny was very observant, and would be able to tell something else was going on with her. Malia felt like Granny knew everything and had ways of finding out. That’s why when she was growing up, it was in her best
