About this ebook
Introduction,
Chapter 06 Aboard The Ship Diana, Late June 1791
The waves crashed against the ship making it sway back and forth making people ill. Mama is one of these people I fear for her for she is with child. I pray to God that my family and I will get through this Voyage, but I am doubtful of this.
What I hate the most about being stuck on this ship is that it stinks of vomit and other unpleasant smells, it makes me want to vomit myself but I try hard not to do so. We are all tired, cranky and need to bathe desperately. We have only been on the ship called Diana for two weeks, though it feels like months. Papa keeps telling us that we do not have much longer to go until we arrive to the new world and get off this dreadful ship, but I can see it in his eyes that he wonders as well on why it is taking longer then expected. The man in the fancy suite had promised us it would be a short trip across the Atlantic Ocean, but I believe he was lying and it makes me wonder what else he had lied about.
Angelica and Frederick are playing on the deck with Pfeffer as I write. I warned them not to get too close to the edge for the fear of them falling into the Ocean. For I had a dream last night that someone had pushed me off the ship’s deck an I was falling into darkness and I could not scream for help. I must have cried out in my sleep because papa had awaken and comforted me until I fell back to sleep again but none came. This ship is crowded with people who hope of a better richer life, with the free land we all are to get when we arrive. The handsome man aboard the ship, told me that we are going to a place called Philadelphia, I wonder what it means? Perhaps I will ask him the next time I see him. I.., Eva
The Bauer family is a group of hard working people that has fallen upon hard times in Germany in the 18th century. Soon after Michael loses his job, he end up living in the poor house with his pregnant wife and their 3 young children. It is not a place one would want to live, as it is filled with rats and deadly diseases that can take away ones life in a blink of an eye. While living there they are approached by a man in a white suite and top hat that has assured them that he could take care of all of their problems.
So they soon sail to the new world known as America on a crowded ship named Diana. During their journey across the Atlantic ocean, they are faced with a miracle of their own and their eldest daughter Eva meets a handsome man aboard the ship which she is due to wed, but someone stops them from doing so.
Upon arriving in Philadelphia they are indentured to a man by the name of Arail Defrock. He seems like a nice man and trustworthy at that, so they put their belongings in a wagon and travel with his servant Isaiah to his estate. During their way Isaiah and Michael get lost in the woods while hunting and they have an encounter with a Indian. Will have arrive in one piece or will there be more struggles Lying ahead for them?

I grew up in the country where there was tons of tree's, wildlife, room to grow and let our imaginations run wild. I now live in the city with my wonderful family who I am truly blessed to share my life with and helped build and create. I came from a low income family with two hard working parents who taught me a lot about life, family, strength, love, hardships, to be a hard worker, follow your dreams and do the best you can with what you have to work with. Growing up and as a adult I loved listening to the old story's, legends and real life events my family had told and gone through. Their lives, the things that were thrown their way and or choices they made was interesting and has helped shaped who I am today. For the path I walk is one they created for me to take over to pave my own way in life, If it was not for them and the steps they took I would not be here. Upon hearing about all of these different people most whom I never got to know because they have passed long ago or before I was born. I took interested in researching our family history to discover more about them and their lives and the people before them, in which I found many wonderful and not so wonderful people who I am related to, who have taught me hard lessons in life, empathy, happiness and heartache towards them, they still inspire me and help me live my life and choices I make to this day. Their memory, legacy, all they have done and uniqueness in their own rights lives on through me and onto my children and their children for many generations to come. My first book series This place of dreams called America is inspired by my many great grandfather Michael Bauer who him and his family became German Redemptioners in the 18th century. It was not until I researched more into it that I decided to sit down and write a book about German Redemptioners in the 18th century and my writing and ideas continued to flow down on paper easily. I will continue to base my books on them, my friends, family and people or events who inspire me. I hope they are all as proud of me as I am of all of them, C.J. Wiles
