      Yes, there’s a spaceship, Gavin said as he jumped right into a story. It’s long and pointy like a stretched out triangle and has different colored lights flashing on both sides. It’s as shiny as tinfoil and goes super fast, especially when Zebulon is driving it and… Gavin stopped talking to consider his story.

      Should Gavin continue describing the spaceship or describe Zebulon the alien?

      Gavin concentrated on his imaginary spaceship. Inside the spaceship was a kitchen and a bathroom and even beds. It was like a whole house so it was great for long trips. Zeb – that’s what Zebulon’s friends called him – liked to take the ship all over the galaxy. He had four hands and his hair was long and funky green and looked sort of like yarn on top of his head.

      Was Zeb an alien? Jaina asked.

      Gavin gave his sister an incredulous look. Have you ever seen a person with yarn hair?

      On Halloween, she said.

      That’s not real hair.

      So what.

      Gavin said, Zeb was an alien, just so he could get back to his story.

      Okay. Jaina looked satisfied.

      Gavin tried to think what should happen to the alien. He couldn’t decide which of his two ideas he liked better.

      Should Gavin’s story be about a spaceship competition or a spaceship being chased by bad guys?

      We need a bad guy, Gavin said. On Zebulon’s planet, there was a wicked witch. She had destroyed the whole Western Plain, which was important because it had a castle. So they had to move the castle with the king, queen and prince.

      And two princesses, added Jaina.

      Fine, Gavin said. The castle had a king, queen, prince and two princesses. And Zeb was going to save them all with his cool, very fast ship. The king sent him on a secret mission to destroy the house of the wicked witch.

      How? Jaina asked.

      Gavin ignored his sister and continued with the story. The secret mission was the most secret mission ever.

      Why? Jaina asked.

      Gavin ignored his sister again. Zeb took his secret plans into his ship and prepared for the mission.

      ’You’re not being a good citizen!’ yelled their mom, Jaina said.

      Mom didn’t say anything, Gavin said.

      Should Gavin ask Jaina what she is talking about or continue to ignore her?

      I think you are being silly, said Gavin. Let me continue my story now.

      ‘Stop being a bad citizen,’ yelled their mom, Jaina shouted.

      Gavin ignored his sister. "Zeb flew toward the wicked witch’s house. The wicked witch sent her goblins after him when she saw him coming. The goblins threw sticks at the spaceship. But the spaceship was too fast. The goblins could not catch it. The sticks were too little to damage the spaceship. Then the wicked witch fired cannons at the spaceship.
