    Chapter One

Children in America are not safe anymore. As I write this, somewhere in America, a child is exploited, kidnapped, sold into slavery or some monstrous crime is committed against the future of this nation. Once upon a time, this country was much safer for children and they could run, play and be little kids without the worry of predators coming after them.

I remember being a young boy in small town Iowa in the 1970’s and having the freedom to play all day with my friends in the neighborhood, without the constant watchful eye from our parents. Yes, once in a while, one of the parents would look out and see what we were up to, or call us back home for lunch or dinner. We freely rode our bikes, played games like war or cowboys and Indians, and even played neighborhood football and baseball without the fear of kidnapping or exploitation.

Now, sad to say, children can’t do those things without the watchful eye of a parent or several parents. Kids can’t roam the neighborhoods they live in to ride bikes, play sports or games with each other. Child predators are just around the corner, even in small town America. We live our lives in virtual prisons within our homes and property boundaries while we aim to ensure the safety of our children. We have let the predators control our lives out of fear.

But that is our job isn’t it? As parents, we will support, defend, protect and love our children. We will lay down our lives for our children to protect them. We also should help protect and serve our neighbors as well, and for the most part, this continues to occur in America. As a father, I know that if saw someone in our community trying to harm or abduct a child, I would step in and try to stop it and protect the child. I believe my neighbors would do the same for my children.

Imagine this scenario happening to your child; let’s call it case number one. Bear with me for a moment and imagine this. I am going to be graphic, and relate what has actually happened to some children. What would you do to stop it? Would you stop it? Imagine that your child was abducted by someone they trust; someone they know. He is probably someone who is well-liked and respected in the community where you live. He is someone who has your complete trust.

The person in this case I will call Barry. He has taken your child to a place where the child thinks it is a safe place, and you see this place as a haven, you have even been there before and trust him entirely. Barry, being in control of your child now decides to execute his plans for your child. He takes out a pipe wrench, placing it on one of the child’s arms and twists it until the bones break and Barry rips the arm from the body. Your child feels the pain, but inside this sound proof room, no one on the outside can hear the screams of pain. Then, Barry repeats this procedure with the other arm. Your child, still alive, but in immense pain then feels the pipe wrench clamp down on one leg, and he repeats the process again. Your child feels
