About this ebook

The cure for grief is action, but is it worth the risk?

Greer Ellis is a hard-working homicide detective who excels at her job and values her reputation and her privacy. Since the death of her partner two years ago, work is the only thing that interests her. Until Eva Saldana, an internationally renowned journalist comes to town looking for answers in her brother's death. Eva is convinced the overdose label so hastily applied to his case is not only wrong but is also a cover for murder. When evidence seems to point to a fellow officer, Greer is torn between her quest for the truth, allegiance to her profession, and her growing desire for Eva.

But is the risk they must take to be together justifiable?

Can you love again after the “love of your life” dies? Do you have to choose between a personal life filled with love and family or a diverse and fulfilling career?

This is a story living well and loving fully. It was so easy to become absorbed in this novel and to be hopeful for characters Greer Ellis and Eva Saldana.

From the character of Detective Greer Ellis - This is a wonderful story of encouragement to open one’s heart to love again and giving yourself the gift of dreaming “new dreams” and being open to all the possibilities that life and loving have to offer. Reading this story might also give some the hope and strength one needs to find within and to believe in the possibilities of second chances for happiness and love in their own lives.

From the character of Investigative Journalist Eva Saldana – This is a wonderful story depicting how career choices might also reflect our personal life at the time. It also opens one’s mind and heart that with every choice we make we can give ourselves a new beginning of our life story. Reading this story might also give some the hope and strength one needs to find within the possibilities to enjoy a scintillating personal life and have a great career simultaneously rather than one or the other.

I’d also like to highlight the beauty of the cover design for this title by Sheri (identified only as Sheri with an email address on the © copyright page). Bold Strokes Books website identifies that the publisher “offers a diverse collection of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer general and genre fiction.” The cover design did not reveal the homosexual component of this story to me. Perhaps some would say I was being naïve. Perhaps. However, as when I read “The Wild One” by Lyn Denison (published by Bella Books) in allowing the author to let the characters evolve through the timeline of the story, it allows time for the reader to become more engrossed in the lives of Eva and Greer and to learn why their meeting at this time in their lives is the beginning of a love story they never imagined could be possible. Sexual scenes are explicit but not offensive.
