About this ebook
In the vampire nation, there are no heroes, only villains.
Druthor, the ancient king of the vampires, sought to cheat death with alchemy but only quickened his demise. His sudden death throws Nardur into civil war as the lesser lords vie for the CRIMSON THRONE.
In the north, the Black Zealots of the Lonely Temple remain neutral but—in time—everyone must pick their allegiance; and if they choose the wrong side, the penalty is death.
A novella.

CRIMSON THRONE:
Vampire Origins #3
Loud hollow bells clanged from the towers of Druenel-Hai, and their message was clear: The King of the Druen is dead!
Across the main thoroughfare, a group of slaves ferried the ancient lord of the vampires—his corpse at rest in a long black coffin—to its place of interment. As the procession neared the Library of Druthor, where the late king had stowed books of forbidden knowledge and old history, heralds rode out from every city gate. One went east toward the sea; another west into the taiga; and another south, toward Sardur where the Hill Ghouls lived. The northward-bound herald would stop at every town of significant size, but he would not venture far from the road. The Lonely Temple already knew everything that went on, and no sane man would go where the Black Zealots had their home.
~
Drasanthi Giltharion, Black Zealot
A fire blazed on the black stone floor of the Lonely Temple. Around it, Drasanthi and his dark brothers danced and shifted forms. One moment, Master Drudar was the Flesh Hound—skinless and red—and then in an instant he became the Bone Devil, its spiny tale full of venom. Drasanthi felt himself change every moment, though he did not know who or what he became. A portentous event had happened, Master Drudar said, and it was time for the zealots to enter their ecstasy.
Master Drudar was the Wolf Man, now, a thick mane of black hair covering his wolfish head on an otherwise druen body. Marsané had become the Flesh Hound—though a woman she was a brother, for among the zealots there was no male or female—and then she was the Skinned Witch, red and raw with tentacle hair and blazing yellow eyes.
From the place of darkest darkness, knowledge cometh!
Master Drudar howled as the Wolf Man. "The king is dead and with his passing, the worst time yet shall fall upon us! But if the right man achieves the Crimson Throne, then shall our iron kingdom become true steel. So saith the darkest darkness!"
So saith the darkest darkness!
Drasanthi howled as the Wolf Man.
So saith the darkest darkness!
Marsané chittered as the Bone Devil.
So saith! So saith!
Master Drudar screamed as the Skinned Witch, and lifted her bloody stumps of hands.
The fire burst, sending a jet of flame into the sky and leaving a pile of ash and human bone.
