      How was your business trip, Paul?

      Good thanks. I don’t like being away too much but it was worthwhile. And my tooth didn’t bother me at all, thanks.

      It wasn’t a very big cavity. If you keep it clean enough and eat sensibly, the filling will last for years or even decades and the tooth should last a lifetime.

      Fingers crossed. Are you going to clean my teeth tonight?

      Yes, but first I want spend some time talking about how you can keep your own mouth cleaner. I know you brush your teeth twice a day.

      Usually…

      And you said that you don’t clean in between your teeth, although Sarah suggested you try flossing.

      Yes, she’s so good at it, She just seems to flick it in between each tooth. I’ve tried but my teeth are too close together.

      Flossing is tricky, especially if your teeth are rough with tartar. I want to step back from flossing and teach you a technique somewhere between your toothbrush and dental floss. It is also much simpler than flossing.

      Go ahead Martin - anything for an easy life.

      CHAPTER 8

      GUMBRUSHES – THE MISSING LINK

      This chapter is all about a brush that you have probably not seen or heard of. It is called an ‘interspace’ brush. Some people call it a single tufted brush or an outerspace brush !

      I call it a ‘gumbrush’ as it helps me to remember that I have to brush my gums.
