About this ebook
Hidden at the crossroads of the world, an ancient race battles to protect humanity, even as it dies from within.

A chance meeting in the Spice Market puts Malachi on her tail. He's reckless--resigned to his fate--but something about Ava catches his interest. While unseen forces circle them, Ava and Malachi search for answers.
Whispering voices. Deadly touch. Their passion should be impossible... or it could be the only thing that will keep them alive.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Keeping in line with all of her other books, Elizabeth Hunter sucks you in from the first paragraph. This book is amazing! Cliff hanger at the end makes me want to travel through time for the next book!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This read like it was the middle of a series not a first book, and I felt like I was missing something in the story until I was about 2/3 of the way through. Still this story of a woman who can genuinely hear voices and a semi-immortal mostly set in Istanbul was interesting. The relationship needed more buildup, and I didn't really feel like the different male characters were different. It isn't a bad read but it didn't flow as well as the author could possibly do.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it!! A twist & unique storyline!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Once again Elizabeth Hunter has blown me away. I loved the setting, I loved the characters and I loved the story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The ScribeBy: Elizabeth HunterNarrated by: Zachary WebberThis was a book that really set the atmosphere! The Middle East, Fallen Angels, battles between forces, a woman that is more than human that has heard a strange language no one else could hear all her life, men are following her...She meets a man that stops the voices with a touch. I really liked the fantasy and mystery part of this, it was a bit too heavy on the romance for me but ....that's just me. The very ending was a bit of a wishy-washy ending. I liked the book but I don't know if I will follow the series. The narrator was excellent! So many voices and emotions and he performed amazingly!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5awesome

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Scribe by Elizabeth Hunter(Book #1: The Irin Chronicles)Source: ARC from the authorRating: there aren’t enough starsBlown away, taken aback, left in tears, stunned, and phenomenally grateful for the opportunity to read this book. Are we all clear on how I feel about The Scribe? Good, now I can get down to business. For the entirety of her life Ava Matheson’s head has been occupied by others, by their voices, by their emotions, and by their very lives. Always, relentlessly, the voices are present: talking, crying, laughing, living. Despite having studied linguistics, Ava cannot decipher the words spoken by the voices; she has travelled the world over and nothing she has encountered comes close to the echoes in her head. The relentless voices. For centuries Malachi and his brothers, collectively known as the Irin, have travelled the world hunting and killing the Grigori, an equally ancient and fierce race who ruthlessly take and murder young women for their own selfish desires and pleasures. Make no mistake, the Irin will rid the world of this pestilence if it is the last thing they do and their mission is not necessarily one of goodwill and charity but of vengeance. Centuries ago the Grigori attacked the Irin and their women, the Irina and decimated the Irina population. And now, a reckoning is sought. Like most of the Irin, Malachi has accepted he will never be mated as he is forbidden from mating with human women and the Irina who remain are unattainable. To Irin warriors like Malachi, this solitary, half-life is made marginally better by his mission. Resigned to his fate, nothing in the world could have prepared Malachi for Ava and the adventure they are about to face. The Bottom Line: The Scribe is Hunter’s finest work to date and I say this after having assigned 4½ to 5 stars to every book of hers that I have read. The Scribe blew me the hell away, so much so that it has taken me several days to process what I read and be able to write this review. This book is simply stunning. There is a lyrical quality to this work – a brilliantly harmonized read that flows with full and beautiful characters, wild and wonderful history, exotic locations, and an ending that will leave even the toughest among us (Hello, me!!) in tears. Hunter has stepped up her game and if you didn’t know her before this book, I promise you will not forget her after having read this one!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ava is a photojournalist who has heard voices all of her life. The voices--all in the same unknown language--come from everyone no matter how old or where they come from. Yet no one else can hear them. She does her best to stay apart from others as the constant drone is driving her nuts. She’s in Istanbul hoping to get some help with that.Malachi is a scribe of the Irin; a race descended from Fallen Angels who’d been forgiven when called back by the Creator, abandoning their human women and children. For their sacrifice, the children were given magic and abilities which they’ve used to combat their cousins, the Grigori; the descendents of Fallen Angels that refused to leave Earth. The Grigori are beautiful, seductive and no human woman can say no to them. Many of the women end of dead as their energy is sucked out of them. It’s the Irin’s job to keep humans safe.Ava comes to Malachi’s attention when seeing a Grigori following her in Istanbul, yet not hunting her as would be expected. This is a paranormal romance that apparently spans 3 books, so don’t expect an HEA at the end of this story. You’re left with a number of circumstances hanging for the next book. The world building and characters are interesting. The description of Istanbul and their people will have you wanting to visit. I found many aspects of the story that I liked. But I had a problem feeling a connection with either Ava or Malachi. Possibly because the story is spread out over multiple books. Perhaps it would be better to read all 3 books back-to-back. But as it is, I don’t believe I’ll be picking up the next book.
